ai6yr,

Hmm, took a zinc and hoping for the best. One of my relatives was sniffly in the car, I should have just wore an N95 when picking them up from the airport and dealt with the crap I'd get about wearing a mask from the family. (I generally don't care about what anyone things, but in-family politics are something else...). "But the pandemic is over, that's what the CDC said" normies. #griping

@ai6yr Ugh! Fingers crossed you don't get sick!

ai6yr,

@mjausson Feeling good now, crossing fingers my immune system kicked in and it was taking care of the issue.

@ai6yr Please test and rest if you can. It might just be pollen, but then again…

ai6yr,

@samhainnight Now asymptomatic after a zinc and my system ramping up this morning. Typical for how my system works, fighting off something to wake up with the beginnings of something and have it not develop as the immune system kicks into gear. Cross fingers.... If I am coming down with something I'd normally be extremely fatigued, and that is not the case.

@ai6yr Fingers crossed!

@ai6yr “When the CDC said ‘get yourselves vaccinated’ you didn’t listen to them then; what’s changed?” would be an awesome answer, if true.

ai6yr,

@mjf_pro Oh, they are vaxxed and all, and masked when the CDC said masking was required, but now they are living in "the pandemic is over" land. One would think, however, if you had even just a cold you'd have learned enough from the pandemic to have the courtesy to wear a mask. But "NO", we can't stand out.

@ai6yr That’s at least better than some, anyway. We normally don’t mask around here at this point and just keep our flu & COVID shots current, but when any of us is feeling sniffly or coughing outside of normal allergies, that person masks up outside the house to try to avoid exposing others.

ai6yr,

@mjf_pro LOL I'm just averse to catching stuff from anyone... an increasingly shrinking number of folks. The risks here in my county are most certainly the lowest they have been in awhile, although the emergency rooms are completely swamped with something right now. 🤔

ai6yr,

They are not all to blame for how they do things; they are strongly, strongly trained (culturally) to conform to the majority, to NOT stand out, to be "normal" -- both through ethnic heritage and through social pressures here in the US. That means they fear being different than "everyone else" 😢

@ai6yr

Hindsight is 20/20 but perhaps a policy of "wearing a mask when picking up anybody from the airport" is an iron-clad policy that could be defended with, "from what I read, most infections now are coming from folks who've been flying/traveling". Or even make up something, like "flu is on the rise" ( in spring less likely, true in summer+ winter).

ai6yr,

@CassandraZeroCovid Yeah... Or next time I'll just lie and say I felt like I was getting a cold, blah blah blah.

ai6yr,

I 100% wear a mask at stores, at the library, because I don't care what some random stranger I will never see again "thinks" if I'm wearing a mask at the store. (yes, generally the only one or a handful nowadays around here). But the crap you get within a family on this kind of stuff is a PITA.
