Covid is increasing quickly in the East Bay and in the North Bay also, of the San Francisco Bay Area. Windsor just shot up 300 points and a friend in Brentwood got it from an elementary school grandkid. The Contra Costa map on wastewater data doesn't show it yet so I'm putting out a warning here.

@rolandelli Hmm, must be another new variant. Such a bummer we don't have good tracking of that anymore, but at least your wastewater sampling is still working!

@rolandelli We're still in Medium and trending down toward Low in Santa Clara County.

But if the East Bay, City and North Bay are trending up, we won't be far behind. I don't change my habits based on the data, though. I mask indoors and don't eat inside.

@mjausson yeah the only change I make is using an Aura instead of the elastomeric. I went shopping inside too, but could do that still, just at lesser times. The Aura fits me well so I might keep it going.

@rolandelli I have some Auras but the elastic broke off from a few of them for me. So I don't trust them. I use KN95s. They have kept me safe so far.

I shop in stores but only at less busy times. I've always hated crowds, so that's not a change for me. I used to get groceries after 9 pm in the before times.

@mjausson interesting, I've never had the elastic break. Same here though.

@rolandelli @mjausson I have a bunch of N95's with elastic that tends to break (Gerson). Have been trying to figure out what to do with them. Considering just tucking them in the garage or something for wildfire season or working on things in the yard, versus using them out and about. They were something like $25 for a billion of them, apparently for good reason. Maybe acceptable behind a cloth mask.

@ai6yr @mjausson I love the Gerson duck bills! If they get older that elastic might break I guess. Or if it dries out. You could get replacement cord and staple it on, like a sewing elastic. The Dräger brand has that.

@rolandelli @mjausson Yeah, the fix would be replacement cord, the elastic is shot but the masks themselves seem fine. It's been done (ie in 2021 and 2022 -- quite a bit of that happening)
