@MLE_online@tomjennings This inspires me to imagine a “Roko’s Basilisk but for Jesus” t-shirt. Or maybe not everyone thinks the Basilisk is just Pascal’s Wager framed as a victorious Skynet, and people would think it’s meant to proselytize.
@MLE_online@tomjennings Yeah that was meant to be the joke. The idea being that it’s hard to tell if the joke teller realizes they’ve wrapped their analogy back around to the source it doesn’t acknowledge. Plus it sounds a little like something a youth leader into Bitcoin might say.
@MLE_online@tomjennings I like encountering things that I’m not sure are jokes, but I also know a lot of thoughtful cool Christians and am not sure if the shirt would cause too much discomfort too them or has implications I’m not considering. I do want to confuse people who take the Basilisk seriously though.
