With the success of hardware and software emulators like Analogue Pocket and Delta, are there actually any new games being released as ROMs for GBA & Co. and sold as downloads in a digital store?

I see potential there.

@eay sometimes some homebrew games appear. Especially demakes. But it’s too niche to actually make any money.

@cliophate Ah, I see, thanks. I'm no expert on game economics, but I would have thought that the success (in terms of scope) of the @playdate Catalog should translate to ROMs as well. With Playdate games, I suppose you can't expect a lot of money due to the comparatively low distribution of the device (right?).

@eay @playdate these games would work as ROMs (except for the need to have that crank), but I feel these games are mostly hobby projects. Which is fine, and you can even ask for money (see the success of itch.io), but I’m not sure there’s a whole business model to explore. Especially since you could just call it an indie pixel game and sell it on Steam for 10€. 😄
