Hmm, what's the go-to option for basic Linux firewall hardware now, here on the European continent? PCEngines is quitting the business, and there's always a bit of a gap between that and full-on embedded Intel Atom or AMD hardware.
Like a Unifi Dream Machine, arm64, but generic, somewhere around €300-400 ex VAT? 🤔
I know I can use refurbished hardware, but I would like a simple 1U rackmount that I can still by a version of 3-5 years from now, without having to sink €700+ on Atom C3000 kit, like we do for the higher end.
@mejofi@IPngNetworks@Raspberry_Pi Personally, I DIY'd my #pfSense with a J4105, 4GB RAM, i350-T4, WiFi & WWAN modules as well as an overkill BX500 120GB & NF-R8 redux-1200 in a low-profile case + power supply and that was < €250 all together...
@kkarhan That looks suspiciously like one of those fake Chinese brands that popped up all over Amazon. Which would fail the ‘be able to buy it again in 3-5 years’ requirement 😏
For #redundancy via #CARP just choose two identical nodes and have them connect directly to each other via a dedicaded NIC/Port using a patch- or direct-attach-cable...
