In the latest episode (278) of @LateNightLinux Popey (sorry mate, really not sure about how to ref you here) says something to the effect of: "when i was told I can choose to not use windows, i thought what a prick", and then explains how he goes on to realise that: yes, his own choices have landed him where he is, and he can seek different pastures.

Well, i had a similar discussion with a colleague some time ago saying: "imagine corporate came and told us...

@LateNightLinux ... Your Linux days are over, time for strictly managed windows laptops"

And he just flatly stated"I'm not going to have to use windows". I did a double take and said "but if corporate enforces..." To which he smiled, interrupted me and said "i do not have to use windows. But they might have to find themselves a new engineer"

And i honestly admire that. Not because it must be Linux because Tux is the one true penguin...

@LateNightLinux ... But because: software engineering is hard. Good engineering is very hard. And it can be a dreadful chore if you are given bad tools to do it with because someone, somewhere who is not as smart as you (in respect to software engineering) decided to give you inferior tools.

It made me think about what other circumstances i would find unacceptable

@LateNightLinux finally, i want to just say: this was not to pick on Windows specifically, this was just relevant to the topic here. And for anyone missing it, the point is that you should seek out what makes you happy, and what enables you to go your thing to the best possible degree.
