I need a new place for my domains/DNS. is becoming too expensive. Where would you move your domains when you want to be sure it is in the EU and allows for full control of even weird DNS records, ideally by just uploading a BIND zone file? No discussions, please. Just suggestions. I think that 10-15€ per domain/year should be the max.

UPDATE: made my decision, domains are moving.

@jwildeboer domain prices are mostly in the realm of the registry, not so much the registrar. Depending on TLD, popularity of the name and demand, prices can vary somewhere between 0.99 and > 100 Euro/year.

I use Hexonet as a registrar (https://hexonet.net). They have a good API (for DNSSEC automation), can do DNSSEC and IPv6, and have reasonable prices.

Thank you for the tips and links. I built a little table to compare prices and we have a clear winner :) I can save more than 50%. I will not disclose the winner until I get an OK to reveal his prices. It's NOT one of the big hosting providers. Small is beautiful, we should learn that important lesson again! These are all renewal prices, VAT excluded. The transfer of the domain may cause different costs, but as I keep them for many years, it is not that relevant for me. (Update: more companies)

    slintes,

@jwildeboer your ask was for better prices but also keeping some uncommon (?) features. Now we have a only price based table? Too bad .... 🤷‍♂️🤔

@jwildeboer I have all my domains at internetbs.net which is currently 11.34€ for a .com

They offer all the things, I had on my checklist:

    • I can specify custom DNS servers with DNSKEY/DNSSEC records

    • Decent payment options

    • Whois privacy by default for no additional charge

    carlwolter,

@jwildeboer please let me know what you decide. I want to move my domains from the US registrar I’m currently using.

@jwildeboer wow, that's expensive. I dock my domains in my friend's hosting company and would pay €32 for this.

@jwildeboer Unfortunaly they are not really ready for foreign customers. The website seems Czech-only. It's a pity because their services are good and for reasonable prices.

    obstschale,

@jwildeboer I'm more than happy with INWX. A Berlin Company. I dont know what you mean with 'weird DNS records' so you Need to check that for yourself.
