@marud it didn't break during the most recent feature rollout of yt :woozy_baa:
on a more serious note tho: most notable difference in terms of functionality is, that piped has sponsorblock built in, i guess (i know, invidious can do that too with the browser addon)
in the end, its down to what you prefer anyways. since i can't know what you value, i can't really say what benifits it would have to you
@bunni@marud invidious can have accounts too tho :woozy_baa:
as for hosting:
invidious is more configurable from an admin perspective as far as i can tell. and it can be installed from source officially, which piped just points to "run this docker compose"
overall, i feel like invidious has stuff that piped doesn't have and piped has some stuff i would like to see in invidious as well (i.e. subs groups, chapters and such minor stuff)
@bunni@marud ye, you can create playlists, which you can't do in invidious. but you can also sub to channels in invidious, if you've got an account on that invidious instance
@puniko as long as I can f*ck up with google, I'm in.
It's more stability and ease of use that I'm interested in. I don't really like the look of Invidious, and I get times where videos are stick in forever loading, at startup or mid video.
@novenary :woozy_baa: ye, it did threw me off before as well, i actually only set it up recently due to the invidious video not available stuff (yt new feature rollout), so i could still watch vids. now i'm just trying it out to see what it can do and what it can't do.
