Anyone using the Apple MacBook Air M3 with Jetbrains tools? Good enough, or underpowered for that sort of thing?

@thirstybear I used PyCharm on my MacBook Air M1, and it was wonderful.

That is until I started using Docker. THAT got that thing WARM!

@_chrismay Heh! Good point. I use Docker quite a bit 🙂

@thirstybear what are you building? If it’s Java or Kotlin you should be fine. If it is Scala it might get a bit warm. The real challenge will be those Teams calls of course.

@tastapod @thirstybear

With MBA my biggest question would be about RAM. How much? What are you running in local containers? Running a server in VMWare + JetBrains might tax your RAM.

Attempting to local LLM work will tax your RAM

Otherwise likely good.

@mlevison Thanks. All good points.
