@pilky nurses are a law unto themselves at times. I had to stop a nurse from pushing my nutrition via a blood only line in one of my arms one night. I respectfully, firmly told her a few times to stop, and then ended up taking the line out of her hand and asking for another nurse.
You really do need to be responsible for your own health in hospital settings.
