@dangillmor not an analogy. The point is that it demonstrates how flawed such algorithms are.

Your focus is on the risks. Rightly so. But the algorithms are used elsewhere.

Israel has been using algorithms with Lavender, but I did not want to go there. Civilian casualties could be seen as an analogy here for that which you speak.

@dangillmor of course they are not equal. And the point is that the lower consequence issues should have made the case for higher consequence issues.

They know there are problems. We keep seeing them with lower consequence issues. Yet, despite that, they are used in very life affecting ways.

@knowprose We definitely agree that opaque algorithms are harming people, and that something needs to be done about that, such as laws requiring more openness.
