Overheard today someone referring to the cybertruck as an Elon P76 and it just tickled my slightly obscure Australian motoring history gland.

@NanoRaptor I wonder if a 44 Gallon drum fits in the Cybertruck bed. 🤷‍♂️ My grandfather brought a P76, had pre-ordered it before they were available. I remember him being all excited when it arrived. I do remember how badly built it was. Leyland really did suck.

@darryl_ramm Tesla claims 56 cubic ft in the back of the cybertruck, and the P76 wasn't that far behind considering it was a sedan, at 36.

@NanoRaptor I reckon it might well be an insult to Leyland ...

@otte_homan Yeah, by all accounts the P76 was a really good start, it just looked kinda weird to .au eyes.

@NanoRaptor

I'm still liking 'WankerPanzer" XD

@RL_Dane @NanoRaptor Big, heavy American cars have been known as "Yank Tanks" here for decades, so "WankerPanzer" is fitting as a term...

@dheadshot @NanoRaptor

I hate the fact that American vehicles are becoming as heavy, dangerous, as wasteful as they were in the 70s. We've come full circle... to garbage.
