Not going to lie: lately I’ve been wondering if any of my work—podcasting, books, tech writing—is really reaching people. But it’s all worth it on those days when some random listener sends an email out of the blue to tell me just how much I’ve affected them.

I’ve been reading your stories — Mac stuff & Galactic Cold War novels — and listening to your podcasts for years! I enjoy all of it, but I especially enjoy your takes on SF film scores (and even pointed out a couple of extended scores on Music back on Twitter). You read my Moonlighting letter on A Complicated Profession last week, so you know I’m not lying. 🤣
@dmoren I really do have to say I agree with this... To people who don't use that word as a "conjunction" or as a "pause word", it is irritating in the extreme. I know you posted this toot as sarcasm or snide, etc. but it really is irritating to some of us who really like to listen to you for your views.
@dmoren Jumping to the word "policing" is overkill for this. I am not asking you to stop nor am I saying it is wrong. All I was saying is the usage of that word so much bothers some people.
I listen because I like what you have to say. I was just adding a comment to your post. Sorry if you took offense at my wording.
