lol, Thankso
gorkx, So basically to find the good stuff have to read what the op said.
IllustratorSilly911, Thanks! I just signed up a few minutes ago, had no idea.
major_malarkey, Thanks. Just signed up and saw the tip to uncheck show your magazines. Went to change that and saw the NSFW checkbox too.
IllustratorSilly911, I just signed up as well, thanks for the tip about unchecking show your magazines.
NewBorn, I just signed up a few minutes ago and then I see my Settings to enable it lol
trent, Noticed this; but also I saw some tits pop up in the random posts sidebar. Pretty spooky given i have nsfw content hidden :P
losttourist, Unless the poster checks the box to say they're posting NSFW content there's no possible way the server could know.
Xathonn, Had a similar thing happen on Mastodon, a post was censored saying "NSFW Content" but then the posters profile pic was just an uncensored picture of their erect penis.
skulblaka, Well that's just a dick move in general
vexingvariables, Always remember to check the settings for any site you sign up for. You never know what kind of privacy settings are just off by default. Or if they're hiding the good stuff: i.e. NSFW
Syo, I guess people should also know. "Activity" of a thread, including who upvoted, is also public. I'm not sure you can hide it for now.
If you care, make sure what you're upvoting on your main account.
lixus98, I haven't seen a single nsfw community/magazine, are there any created?
Some say that no one wants to host an nsfw instance, maybe this would change at some point.
skulblaka, I've read that no one wants to host it because of legal issues.... I predict that at least one person will be willing to deal with said legal issues and stand up a reputable NSFW magazine, and that we may end up having some trouble with a bunch of others.
Mastur, Do not underestimate coomers, there's already nsfw magazines here (they show up on the random magazines section lmao), and i've spotted at least one nsfw furry instance of lemmy when browsing join-lemmy.org
uwu, I've set one up on here too. A site just doesn't fill that void for me without it!
Mastur, Mate kys kajskjasjkd
Hoping federation is working prperly soon so we wan browse the dedicated instances though
sharkato, Also, if you haven't enabled them, notifications are also in this section of your profile. Enable them so you see people's replies to your comments and posts!
FaceDeer, The various notification types are rather confusing, is there some kind of help page yet that explains what the various terms mean? There's "comments in my threads", "threads comments", "posts", and "posts comments" and it's unclear what the difference is between these various things.
iNeedScissors67, From what I can tell so far: "comments in my threads" means notifications for when you make a thread and someone comments in it. Sounds good unless you make a thread that takes off and you get 250 notifications lol. Thread comments would be a notification for replies to comments within a thread, like how I'm replying to you now. Posts (aka microblogs) are like "tweets" here so it would be like Twitter notifications.
DarkThoughts, I think most users would want Option 1, 3 and 4 enabled. 2 sounds excessive and 1 can be if something would indeed go viral but I usually had it enabled on Reddit too (there it was a per submission setting rather than a global one).
sharkato, Comments in my threads => When people comment on threads I've created
Replies to my threads comments => When people reply to comments I've made on a magazine's thread
Replies in my posts => When people reply to my posts in the microblog section of a magazine
Replies to my posts comments => When people reply to comments that I've left on microblog posts
New threads in a subscribed magazine => Any time a new thread is made in a given mag, you get a notification
New posts in a subscribed magazine => Any time a new microblog is made in a given mag, you get a notificationI keep everything on except the last two.
Homeschooled316, Ah, thanks! This is great heads up. for people who are into that kind of thing, i mean. I wouldn’t need to enable it, of course, but others might.
Blakerboy777, Thanks a bunch, had no idea!
Turkmenistan, Nice. Thanks!
