dinckelman, I deleted my account yesterday, and don’t have any regrets anymore. There’s nothing to be gained there. I don’t want to be somewhere, where neonazis are encouraged to post
ripcord, What took so long
dinckelman, Haven’t used it in quite a while either way. Only kept it so i can open links
Andromxda, They should really switch to Mastodon and host their own instance, just like the German public broadcast service: ard.social
Andromxda, Btw I just realized that the BBC and NPR are also experimenting with Mastodon, the BBC even has their own instance: social.bbc/about
tallricefarmer, looks like npr abandoned that account in 2020
Andromxda, Damn, didn’t realize that. That’s pretty unfortunate.
mesamunefire, Looks like it’s being used, that’s cool. social.bbc/public
Appoxo, (edited ) Didnt even know abou that…
That’s way too progressive.
Especially compared to their YT-channelThey are not even listing it on their website. Neither for ard.de nor tagesschau.de
Andromxda, I never use the YouTube channels to watch their content, I prefer to watch that stuff right from the ARD/ZDF media library using an open-source application called MediathekView (GitHub). There’s also a web version.
downdaemon, This idea is cheesy and full of holes
don, I’m a bit surprised the Swiss were on Twitter to begin with.
mypasswordis1234,
TWeaK, So are they going to Mastadon or what?
Icalasari, I think it would be better if they made their own instance that worked akin to Mastodon. Then they are always in control of it and people can use whatever Fediverse account to follow
onion, So a normal Mastodon instance
Legend, Yeah like what is going on here .
takeda, That’s how I understand Mastodon’s meant to work. You have your instance like you do a mail server, then you have full control over it.
TWeaK, I agree, that’s what the BBC did.
ripcord, Hmmm, did they? I’m looking and I can’t tell what their legit account is. There’s some account @c.im that has 25k followers but it doesn’t seem like the actual BBC account, just some 3rd-party not (like a dozen others).
Which is the one they set up?
TWeaK, I’m pretty sure they did, although I’ve used Mastadon even less than I used Twitter, so I can’t be 100% sure. However I’ve read articles over the months saying they were introducing an instance as a trial, and then that they were keeping it running after the trial.
jan75, Not exactly the same, but the swiss administration have their own mastodon instance: www.swissinfo.ch/eng/business/…/48808086
Link to instance: social.admin.ch/about
TWeaK, So ideally these public broadcasters would make communities on the official Swiss instance.
Eheran, A little late, eh?
kent_eh, Better late than never.
Verdorrterpunkt, Eh, it all takes a bit longer here.
