I learned a fascinating fact the other day.

It is estimated that during the Roman Empire 20% to 30% of Italy's population were slaves. For the empire as a whole that share was between 10% and 15%.

In these times, even modest Roman households might expect to own two or three slaves.

🥥 Just read the mind-blowing comic by Australian Stuart McMillen about Buckminster Fuller's energy insights and Eye wish Eye could share it with everyone on Earth.
It will give you a drug-free mind-blowing experience!

Wish Eye could say Eye was MORE optimistic after reading it. 🥥

@TodePond “I live on Earth at the present, and I don't know what I am. I know that I am not a category. I am not a thing - a noun. I seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process - an integral function of the universe.”

Buckmister Fuller's thoughts in 1917 that "we actually had the possibility of doing so much with so little and might be able to take care of all humanity at the highest standard of living anyone has ever experienced, and to do it by 1985. And if we did that, the whole raison d'etre of war would disappear."

Quoted in "R. Buckminster Fuller : an autobiographical monologue/scenario"

" So we find the bird, then, designed with integral wings for his real, his medium then, is the air. In gases he can fly beautifully. But when he's not flying he cannot divest himself of his wings, so the wings then, when he tries to walk around are quite encumbering."

The Spilhaus Projection. In 1942, Athelstan Spilhaus produced a world map with a unique perspective, presenting the world's oceans as one body of water.

Buckminster Fuller also did a "One-Ocean World Map" with Antarctica in the centre a year later in 1943. It's not as well remembered by the World Wide Web as the Dymaxion Map is.

"You never change things by fighting existing #reality. To change something, build a new #model that makes the existing model #obsolete." – #BuckminsterFuller

For me, this is truly helpful, giving me a way to think about our current #global #realities and consider ways to ameliorate public complacence and our ever-quickening descent into an #apocalyptic #hellscape.

I'm sure others have stated much the same, or better, but this came up in a #YouTube #video I'm watching and I needed this, now.
