Ok. So Kaisma didn’t disappoint

I bumped into a surveyor who spoke English and confirmed this is the route. The gravel, circled, is where Kaisma Rail Baltica station will be. The arrow is roughly the route the track will take

I’ve been to some odd places on #CrossBorderRail but this is perhaps the strangest place to locate a station I’ve seen. Why here? 🤔 Even what village there is in Kaisma isn’t close

“ICE International is a very good collaboration between NS and DB”. Might be, but for travel information it is not :blobcatthisisfine:

ICE 255 to Basel SBB in the DB app. The train is showing on time, but there is a disruption showing.

Flight home Milan to London was delayed, we arrived 12 hours after we left. The car from airport was $$$ because the trains were closed and buses full.

Had we taken trains from Milan to London: same time & cost, less carbon, and walk home from last station. Next time trains!!

Today’s musical interlude is Vana vaksal by Ivo Linna https://youtu.be/aLSupQmj4CU?si=ZPdlRfzmFJ4WTAnk

This is the song from the launch event earlier.

Estonian lyrics here: https://lyricstranslate.com/ko/ivo-linna-vana-vaksal-lyrics.html?amp

“That time the train left here
and he took me far away with him,
the wheels sang the same five.
The platform under my feet is overgrown with grass.”

12 minutes delay due to German passport control at Frankfurt/Oder. Let’s see if I’ll be able to catch my train to #Munich in #Berlin. I’ll have to run, it seems. Le sigh. #CrossBorderRail

jwildeboer,
@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net avatar

We are now adding more delay as there was whatever other problem that caused trains to queue up before Nürnberg. By now I just want to be at home and go to bed.

jwildeboer,
@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net avatar

To recap: the polish train was perfectly on time all the time from Warsaw to the German border. The German border control did a passport check which caused 12 minutes delay that we partly eliminated when we arrived in Berlin. After that it was ICE and (unfortunately) as usual the delays started piling up and now we will arrive with 15 minutes delay, which is not that bad compared to other trips. Still, just being on time is the rare exception when traveling with Deutsche Bahn :(

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net avatar

Took a taxi home and can finally shower and go to bed. Tomorrow morning it’s office time, Thursday is yet another bank holiday. This concludes the thread for my trip from to and back. I hope you enjoyed the ride! Good night :)
