Hey, #MechanicalKeyboards pals!
Has anyone experience with FKCaps custom #keycaps ? https://fkcaps.com/custom/
I would live to create (and buy!) my own perfect set for my #ErgoDash, but even though I'm aiming at DSA PBT, I'm wondering if laser-printed labels would last longer or not.
Are there similar alternatives to this service, with dye-sub or double-shot?
In the end, I've just finally decided to climb the Colemak-DH mountain.
I've never been a touch-typer but using 3-4 fingers per hand, moving hands here and there, I was able to easily play it at around 75wpm with basically no errors.
I'm not saying I want a typing tool with exactly my QMK-layout on my#ErgoDash (even though...), but at least something that would teach me #touchtyping with a split #MechanicalKeyboard layout.
I know about Keybr, Colemak Club and some others.
Till now only Colemak Club is also orthio-based, but I first want to learn normal QWERRY... No one with split layout?
About a year since I got this #Lily58#ergonomic#MechanicalKeyboard to try to help alleviate my periodic hand and wrist pain. It didn't alleviate the pain; it eliminated the pain, and this #keyboard has been a joy to write with every single day since I started using it.
@rhys
Indeed. Same for me thanks to my #ErgoDash#MechanicalKeyboard . Wrist pain gone in a few weeks.
I still have to get used and I'm not a touch-typer, but I like it!
Okay, so I finally made up my mind to buy an #Ergonomic#Keyboard again, now a column-staggered one.
I decided to get the Iris Rev. 8, as it has a reasonable amount of keys, it is hotswappable, I don't have to do any soldering, but still very customizable.
I’m getting really sick of the keyboard halves moving around on my desk as the day progresses. So I grab some cardboard and a tape measure, and some calipers and figured out what it’s going to take to 3D print a spreader bar to hold them in position.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to print some thing that is almost 60 cm long. So I will have to figure out some kind of joinery to do it in two halves.
So, in the end, this was my #ErgoDash#MechanicalKeyboard before and after the "refurbishing": I've asked for a bamboo case without tilting/tenting kit, and the keyboard came with it. 🤦🏻♂️
But most tedious thing was the diamond-shaped key on the bottom row, left half: it's asymmetric with respect to the right side!
On the right, the four arrows are all close together. On the left, three keys are together and one is in the middle of nothing, alone.
Day 8+20 "with" my #MechanicalKeyboard#ErgoDash: 8 because I had it for 8 days, and 20 days since I've sent it back to #FalbaTech to fix the wrong case I've received.
Today, the shipping back from FalbaTech to me has been prepared: will I have my keyboard back before the end of the week? Don't think so, but let's hope so...
So, I've sent my #ErgoDash#MechanicalKeyboard back to #FalbaTech to have the bamboo case I've actually asked for, and to fix the left side positioning error for the rightmost "mod key".
Brought the parcel to post office on August 8th, "shipped" from there on 9th... arrived on 17th.
Probably a post person went from Italy to Poland by feet...
And no news from FalbaTech, anyway.
🤷🏻♂️ wondering how my (almost) €350 will end...
I've never properly learned the h,j,k,l movement keys in #vim and am now forcing myself in #helixeditor to use them by disabling the arrowkeys and pgup/down end/home alltogether.
So far, it's a struggle. Why do I do this to myself?
Day 6 without my #ErgoDash#MechanicalKeyboard : I've been to post office on August 8 to return it to #FalbaTech, to replace the case, and according to Italian postal service it's still somewhere in Italy. 🤦🏻♂️😠😡🤬
It would've been easier and faster to go on holidays in Poland.
Being gazillion years I'm using reverse T layout for my arrow keys,

using the linear layout arrow keys

of my new #MechanicalKeyboard#ErgoDash is really extremely absolutely difficult. 😱
Columnar staggering is not the problem, arrow keys are!
I'm getting a really crazy headache...
First feelings: lightweight, wonderful bamboo, nice packaging and "add-ons": free keyholder, free (bamboo!) wrist rest in this period, tenting added (even if not requested), a couple of candies too!
Second feeling: friggin' difficult to get used to, but lovely.
In the end, this (might) probably be my #MechanicalKeyboard layout when carriers and post offices will decide to bring me my #ErgoDash from FalbaTech and the keycaps from YMDKey.
I've pompously called it develop-it. It's just a simple QWERTY split layout with an additional layer for Italian accented letters. Things repeat for a further Colemak Mod-DH layer and its accented layer as well.
See also the comment for clearer layout.
I've been to #Yushakobo Tokyo #MechanicalKeyboard store on June 30. A real paradise: they have almost everything and the clerk I've spoke with (in English and Japanese) was very kind and helpful.
I've spent 1h trying to force him selling me a showcase keyboard I've loved... but prebuilt keyboards they have "in the store are only for showcase"! 🤦🏻♂️ (WHY?!?!!?)
Anyway, in the end I've seen, live, the #ErgoDash and I've felt in love with it. #FalbaTech, wait for my order! 🫶🏻
