@joenash got me the best Christmas present of all - shamed into tidying my desk.

Before you ask no I did not vacuum the footrests under there.

Lovely!
I "only" have an IBM Model M, a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL and a bamboo ErgoDash (by ).
The latest being my current daily driver, commuting with it due to partial weekly work from home.

Trying to transition to a 52 keys layout - with help of an electrical tape 😅

I am looking in to ZSA Voyager and Lily58 Pro (wireless). I like the later one more (on paper).

Anyone have experience with Lily ? Any other recommendations?

The biggest pain so far is the arrow keys on a different layer. That will take some getting used to.

@Cervajz
I was almost choosing the Lily, then instead decided for an ErgoDash (pre-built by : I'm not good at soldering...), and I'm having a lotn of fun.

Day ten of not being able to purchase the Iris rev. 8 from keeb.io due to it being out of stock.

Instead, I read this long, amazing article on how to (and why) use the home row keys as modifiers. Now I just have to wait an indeterminate time to be able to get the hardware to try this out on.

@nicemicro
Go with the ErgoDash. 😉
I've bought mine from and love it.

Okay, so I finally made up my mind to buy an again, now a column-staggered one.

I decided to get the Iris Rev. 8, as it has a reasonable amount of keys, it is hotswappable, I don't have to do any soldering, but still very customizable.

Of course they are out of stock now. 😭

@nicemicro
I've been there.
In the end I've bought the from .
Happy.

I’m getting really sick of the keyboard halves moving around on my desk as the day progresses. So I grab some cardboard and a tape measure, and some calipers and figured out what it’s going to take to 3D print a spreader bar to hold them in position.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to print some thing that is almost 60 cm long. So I will have to figure out some kind of joinery to do it in two halves.

#3dprinting #MechanicalKeyboards

A close-up of the index card. It has rounded corners and a light dot grid. On it are a series of circles with measurement distances between them. There’s a note about the diameter of the feet of the keyboard, and an annotation about the size of my 3D printer’s, print bed.

Lovely. I was thinking about it. In the end I've bought the #ErgoDash from #FalbaTech and I'm thinking about Colemak-DH layout.

Day 8+20 "with" my : 8 because I had it for 8 days, and 20 days since I've sent it back to to fix the wrong case I've received.
Today, the shipping back from FalbaTech to me has been prepared: will I have my keyboard back before the end of the week? Don't think so, but let's hope so...

AAMfP, to mechanicalkeyboards
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

So, I've sent my back to to have the bamboo case I've actually asked for, and to fix the left side positioning error for the rightmost "mod key".
Brought the parcel to post office on August 8th, "shipped" from there on 9th... arrived on 17th.
Probably a post person went from Italy to Poland by feet...
And no news from FalbaTech, anyway.
🤷🏻‍♂️ wondering how my (almost) €350 will end...

Day 6 without my : I've been to post office on August 8 to return it to , to replace the case, and according to Italian postal service it's still somewhere in Italy. 🤦🏻‍♂️😠😡🤬
It would've been easier and faster to go on holidays in Poland.

AAMfP, to mechanicalkeyboards
@AAMfP@fosstodon.org avatar

Glad that I've bought my from , but:

  1. I've asked for no tilting/tenting kit, and there is one. Not a big issue, but removing it will expose the screws holes, now. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  2. The asymmetry of lowest four keys, in left (mods) and right (arrows) halves is really annoying.

My brand new by .

First feelings: lightweight, wonderful bamboo, nice packaging and "add-ons": free keyholder, free (bamboo!) wrist rest in this period, tenting added (even if not requested), a couple of candies too!

Second feeling: friggin' difficult to get used to, but lovely.

So, in the end, it's done.
I've bought another .
Since 2018 I'm on a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL, at home and since 2021 a GMMK 1 TKL in office.
Now I've just bought from an v1, with three 1u keys in the thumb areas, no underglow or damn LEDs 😇 and Kailh White Box switches.
And this DSA PBT keycaps set, from https://ymdkey.com/products/107-dsa-profile-gray-orange-keycaps-for-id75-xd75-planck-preonic-niu40
Happy birthday to me

I've been to Tokyo store on June 30. A real paradise: they have almost everything and the clerk I've spoke with (in English and Japanese) was very kind and helpful.
I've spent 1h trying to force him selling me a showcase keyboard I've loved... but prebuilt keyboards they have "in the store are only for showcase"! 🤦🏻‍♂️ (WHY?!?!!?)
Anyway, in the end I've seen, live, the and I've felt in love with it.
, wait for my order! 🫶🏻

Keebio Sinc quickly become my favorite keyboard, but my final goal is Moonlander. The problem is Moonlander has a learning curve which I can’t afford right now time-wise. Slowly trying and updating the layouts though.

@ubertronn
I've spent 20 years with an IBM Model M. Then a couple of keys stopped working and I moved to a Filco Majestouch 2 TKL and after pandemic we started working partly from home, so bought a GMMK 1 TKL to keep it in office.
Now I'm thinking to move to an ergo split thing, presumably the by even if I'm partly scared by the different layout.
I'm a software developer but I don't need much speed: as far as typing won't hinder my thinking, it's fine.
