This is a great tool for scheduling meetings with several people. Use #STARvoting to select the most preferred time. Just click the 5 and draw boxes around your favorite times, 1-4 crayons for the not-so-good times and 0 as an eraser.
Trump can't win without third party candidates splitting the vote because he can't reach a majority of the votes, but he can get a plurality of the votes if enough candidates are in the race.
The criticism of #STARvoting, that some people will only vote five stars for their favorite, that's fine. If you like #ApprovalVoting, just give all of your approvals five stars and don't worry about it.

If you get lost in the "math" of #RankChoice voting, #STARvoting only requires addition, and then we count favorites between the top two, for those who would like to have a #thirdParty instead of choosing between democrats and voter suppression. Single-winner STV is not a fix for polarization or a way out of the status-quo, IRV is just a shell-game distraction and understanding the dynamics or strategy of STV is just a train wreck compared to understanding proportional STAR quotas & fractions.

@lkanies@mph I think the attempt / trial balloon to change it is just a power grab, & they're maybe all a little clueless about how unrepresentative they (and our old voting method) are. Sadly STV, not proportional STAR, but it won't be terrible. Trying to kneecap it into two single-winner IRV (STV but without proportions 🙃 ) elections would make it a districty kinda status-quo, as our mayor+auditor's races will continue to be because IRV (i.e. single-winner STV) is definitely not #STARvoting
@lkanies@mph Yeah I think that's a damage the volunteers on the charter commission have after suffering so many plurality-winner mayors they wish they could weaken. My take on that is, why not use a good voting method like #ApprovalVoting (plus top-2) or #STARvoting and actually elect a popular mayor, then they just do what most people want?

Too bad the #Portland#CharterReview commission went with their feelings about how #RankChoice works, rather than listening to their voting methods research committee, who had done the homework and recommended #STARvoting. Now we've got the business association's pet conservative electeds proposing to make 3 proportional seats per district into 2 single-winner elections, where RCV/IRV #RankedChoice will deliver status quo results and money-talks manufactured consent, like it has for 100 years.🙄
