Oof, I had my first massive failure trying to do hand thrown gliders. I learnt the hard lesson that planes do not scale proportionately. I tried making a bigger version of one I had already made. After spending the last few days designing and printing out parts I got maybe six throws out of it. Every flight ended in a hard nose dive, and now the plane is in a state of disrepair. I think the issue was the weight got away from me. That's one failure down on my journey! 😅
I have always wanted to get into rc plane design. I love watching channels like rctestflight, and want to learn the skills to design stuff like they do.
So, rather than waiting for it to magically happen like i normally do, i have actually started researching and fiddling around. I present my first iteration and my current iteration. I know they are jank, but I am really happy with how they turned out, and how they actually fly.
While he started three years prior, Otto Lilienthal took the invented glider on his first successful flight in 1894. It wasn't much more than 7 Seconds, but his achievement changed the world of aviation forever. Even the Wright brothers been well aware of the "flying man" from Berlin, but the TNYT missed to mention the pioneers like Lilienthal and Gustav Whitehead, five years after the very first motor flight, in their front page report about the Wright apparatus 1906.
However, in 2024 we can celebrate the 130th anniversary of this historic event and share our #Liliental portrait with you.
Ever seen a glider hover to a standstill? Today's wave conditions ensured the surprising sight of gliders practically "sitting" in the air. It's strange enough from the ground, but quite eerie in the air. Here's a clip from today's footage, showcasing the effect.
First real in-house run of my #pixelArt#stickers done. Just need to do product shots and make listings for the new designs. Mostly tattoo designs to start, but I threw in a couple #hacker designs and a bad pun.
