I've read somewhere on the 'net that infrared film dies quickly and dies an ugly death. So I shot a roll of Kodak HIE expired in 2006 and can confirm the saying! 😐
Kodak HIE developed in FX39II 1+14 at 19°C.
Nikon FE with Tamron Adaptall-2 24mm F2.5 lens, IR720nm filter.
Plustek OpticFilm 8100 + VueScan, and a lot of dodging and burning to get somewhat presentable results.
Well, shit. Today I learned there's a Bulb mode on Olympus OM-10 camera even without the manual adapter.
After shooting an entire roll of Lomochrome Turquoise and wondering why the heck is the camera sounding so weird. 😭 #shootfilmstaybroke#believeinfilm
Ya know what I haven't done for quite some time? A live film-developing thread! The last time I did one was in August, and I developed 40 rolls in the meantime! 😁
So, let's start - first, let me gather all the stuff I need...
Is a photo taken if nobody gets to see it? Photos taken on a film are cool, but I'd like to see them on my computer and I need to scan them first.
Here's my scanning rig - Plustek OpticFilm 8100 dedicated film scanner, doing its job. #believeinfilm#FilmScanning#shootfilmstaybroke
I'm using VueScan scanning software, it's scanning the green channel (the sharpest one) to 16-bit grayscale TIFF files, at 3600 dpi. I get ~42 MB, ~5000×3400 pixels per frame - about 17 megapixels.
Colour film would be scanned at the same resolution, but full-colour data need a bit more storage - ~120 MB per frame. #believeinfilm#FilmScanning#shootfilmstaybroke
I know this technique I described in there might be a little controversial, but hey, it works - I've been reusing one-shot developers, diluted Xtol and FX-39, with good results. The attached photo is from a roll developed with XT-3 1+1 that's been reused for the fifth time. 😅
Developed my two remaining #ECN2 films in #C41 and since #KodakPortra prices just are crazy now, I’m shure I will switch to #KodakVision completely, once my C41 reserves are gone.
Let's do another one of almost-live film developing threads! This time, I have a roll of KosmoFoto Mono 100 film that I've shot in Olympus Shoot & Go R point'n'shoot from the mid-1990s. The camera has only one shutter speed, only one aperture, and there's no focusing, the lens is always focused at a hyperfocal distance.
I'll be developing this film in Rodinal, 1+50 dilution, and half past 10 in the evening already passed, so let's move fast... #believeInFilm#filmDeveloping#shootFilmStayBroke
