#disneyPus price change sent to me yesterday. Current annual price of $109 vs 2024 price of $139! Yeah, no! ESPECIALLY not when they pre-announce limiting TV show and movie production of #Marvel properties!
Finished X-Men '97 - what an epic finale 🤯 Tolerance is Extinction – Part 3. Best tv show I watched this year. Can't get enough of the Newton Brothers banger tracks - is there a full OST release already? Couldn't find it on Tidal yet.
He said, 'Don't you dare break her heart.' and he was talking about Jean. This line gave me chills, because it showed so much maturity on his part. He knows his role in the triangle and he respects Logan's role there as well.
He knows losing Logan would be too much for Jean to bear and rather than be jealous of their love, his only concern is for her happiness.
Season finale of #Xmen97 honestly was not great and yet the show as a whole was still the best X-Men thing Marvel has ever produced.
Really serves to highlight just how badly Disney dropped by the ball by securing X-Men rights in 2019 and then proceeding to use none of it in making the dreadful phases 4 and 5.
Honestly how do brainstorm the post-Endgame MCU with "X-Men" circled on a whiteboard at Disney HQ and proceed to make Ant-Man 3 and Moon Knight?
#XMen97 is some of the best work #MarvelStudios has done in years. People who complain about 'comic accuracy' don't understand that what the #MCU does best is take the BEST elements of several stories to tell one cohesive story and tell it well.
“Trial of Magneto,” Lifedeath,” “Inferno,” “E is for Extinction,” “Operation: Zero Tolerance,” Fatal Attractions.” All there, & more.
Retrogaming consoles, cyberzombification, elderly John Connor-esque timetraveling kid from a dystopian future, Magneto does an Escape From LA-style EMP -- what's not to love about? #Xmen97 is like injecting the 90's straight into yer Nintendo Powerglove! 2 retractable claws up.
I think the BEST part of the new #XMen97 series has been how much love my favorite character has been given. Cyclops has been handled beautifully here, really showing the world why he's the leader. The writing shows the team truly understands Scott and this is EASILY the best version of him outside of the comics. (I know, it's a low bar). 😎
Next week, when the last episode of the season airs I think I'm going to have to splurge tens of thousands of words on how incredible and wonderful and impossible this show has been. It's not just the greatest piece of X-media since the comics, it's one of the best shows I've watched in many years, with only Andor coming close in recent memory.
My family, who have not watched this yet, are simply not prepared for it. I defnitely wasn't: it hit me "like a hay-bailer with a jet engine attached" (lol @ rare writing mis-step). It is on another level over and above its forebear. Its timing could not have been better, and that's as much by fate as by design.
But sadly I think we've had our 'Endgame' moment in that this experience will be almost impossible to duplicate. Many of the shocks and surprises we've seen worked (I'll speak for myself here) because they were so unexpected. While the original series played loose with the source comic timeline (With Dark Phoenix in season 4 there should have been many events before we saw The Phalanx Covenant in season 5, for instance), this new series has gone berserk with it, to tremendous effect. It actually led me to ponder if Time itself was being manipulated by someone in-universe but there's been little evidence so far, though Bishop's disappearance being kept visible suggests this might be a simmering plot point for season 2....
Or perhaps it'll completely surprise me again. I'd be delighted to be wrong.
It is absolutely fascinating to see how the events portrayed by the X-Men 97 series are being received by fans, some siding with a man currently committing Genocide. It's even more grimly fascinating in light of events in Israel the show's writers could not possibly have predicted.
That a cartoon produced for children/young adults is delivering a powerful polemic on such complex topics as Genocide and Bigotry is simply astonishing. That it is being made by Disney is actually incredible.
Sure feels like #XMen97 is speed-running Marvel’s comic book storylines as it heads into the first season finale! There’s a LOT that happened in just a few episodes. 🤯
Damn is Professor X really this annoying I don't remember him being an insufferable naive virtue signalling bitch like this when I was a child 😭 #Xmen97
Was Beau De Mayo fired because Disney realized they could never make an #XMen live action movie--or any Marvel movie for that matter--that's better than this season of #XMen97? Kidding of course. But the point is this little animated series supposed to be just a fun nostalgia trip is putting the entire MCU to shame. #Episode9
