I made a conscious decision to get out there and see Black plays. I am AMAZED that there is SO MUCH great theatre to see, appreciate and process. That's on me for not checking all of this out before now.
I have not enjoyed a Black-out night yet, but I will definitely do so.
The brutal racist murder of Stephen Lawrence and the deliberate sabotage during the police investigation held a mirror up to Britain, reflecting British society's racism.
Of course, there were many, many more examples of racism and injustice before 1993; but the Lawrence family refused to be silent, demanding justice for their son / brother / friend.
Powerful performances in "In Hiding", a play about a mother's love for her son who is Autistic, pitted against employment, social standing in Nigeria and Owambe.
