    Being an adult means you can have a second tree dedicated to just geeky/fandom ornaments. Being an adultier adult means putting this tree on the living room, while the traditional tree lives off on its own little corner on the dining room.

    Fully assembled feel tree in the living room between the tv and the doorway into the kitchen.

    @Terra I’m glad you’re starting to be able to find yourself again!

    I’m having trouble escaping the guarded persona even here because there are people and connections I’ve made over the last 20 years that I’d feel embarrassed if they ever saw the unguarded me. I feel like I always need to keep my professional “work mask” on in case I need to lean in these connections to find work in the future, so everything I post here gets filtered.

    @Terra back on the the dead bird site I had separate accounts for the real me vs. tech/everything else. I had the bright idea of moving both sets of follows to a single unified account when I migrated over here, since I had just come out publicly. I now think that was a mistake. I should have kept public/private life separate.

    Men’s clothes: heavy duty wash cycle, high heat, tumble dry. Wear the same pile of t-shirts and jeans for 20 years and it looks good as new.

    Women’s clothes: gentle cycle, cold water, hang to dry. Lasts 6 months if you’re lucky before all you have left is a bare strand of thread.

    @marcoarment just listened to ATP 545: I bought the eufyCam 2C system about a year ago, and it’s working pretty well for me. It had it’s own base station that acts as a home hub for recording, so no monthly sub required. I’ve got 4 wireless cameras set up around that house that only need to be charged every 6 months or so. It has its own app, but does integrate with HomeKit. Biggest downside I think is max 4 cams per hub, so if you wanted to use 6 cams you need 2 hubs.

    @agiletortoise I have the cameras in HomeKit so the rest of my family can view them whenever they want, but I use the eufy app for motion detection and notifications because the documentation said homekit’s detection used more power.

    For previous WWDC @ home weeks, I would wear my Apple shirts from years past. But they are all 2x unisex (men’s cut). I tried one this morning but it looks too much like boymoding. Going with a newer ATP shirt instead. I wish I could buy fem cut Apple branded shirts without the 2000 mile flight.

    Since starting transition I’ve been way more dedicated to building a body that I am proud of and I’m super excited that as of today I beat my longest move ring streak ever with 61 days of continuous exercise. This morning I weighed in at 182lbs, which is 27lbs down from my all time high in May of 2021. I have my dysphoria days but goddammit I am proud of how I look now 💪
