You’re “balancing disparate interests” include almost exclusively corporations and almost completely ignore the fucked legacy being left behind by Biden (whose been a leader in politics longer than I’ve been alive and definitely deserves some ire here,) and politicians like him.
The willow project is a text book example of him breaking his word and supporting oil companies (who didn’t even ask for it to be picked back up,) in favor of literally supporting our collective grandkids ability simply fucking exist in a comfortable world.
Gee, wouldn’t be awesome if we could just, you know, fund schools?
naw. That’s too easy. and too “socialist” even though it’s probably less expensive than, you know, all the damage that will be caused… this year… by massive fires, extremely intense storms or other things affected by (and affecting) climate change.
Edit: side note, how much do you think corporations spent to make sure their tax revenue was funding people’s public schools? how much do you think they spent to let people know that?
Nationwide, around 10% of funding for schools is public. In Alaska it was 7% in 2020. You’re right in saying it would take an act of congress. Biden loves taking credit for acts of congress, though. so he can take credit for that, too. Further, he was a senator for longer than I’ve been alive. His leadership in the DNC has shaped the nation and is a large, if not-exclusive, part of how we got into this mess.
but do go ahead, insist it’s NoT BiDeN’s FaUlT when a) he has a very long track record that is a significant part of the problem and b) while he can’t act unilaterally, he largely hasn’t acted in any meaningful way.
Literally the only justification for voting for Biden is that trump is worse. that’s not an argument for Biden… and after a certain point you have to wonder if maybe that’s the reason he didn’t pressure his DoJ to hurry the fuck up with trump indictments… you know… for fucking espionage… or even the entire reason Trump is allowed to be a political candidate at all.
But sure the guy whose done nothing for decades… he’s gonna save us with some parks.
And you wonder why this whole line of thinking is seen as deeply unserious.
in 2020, Biden ran on his vast tenure. but apparently, its “deeply unserious” to look at what hes done? He’ll likely mention it again in the coming year
And yes, he does take credit for acts of congress. the build back better plan comes immediately to mind. Or did you think he did that exclusive? American Recovery Act, too. in fact, he pretty much takes credit for every major piece of legislation that comes off. And to be fair, he does do some heavy lifting and horse trading to get it done, but he’s far- far from alone on that.
maybe you should explain how it all works to the fucking POTUS, then, since he loves taking credit for congressional acts that he think’s we’ll like. can’t have it both ways. that you try to insist he should get it both ways is hilarious.
it is a valid criticism to say nothing he’s done comes even close to ‘enough’. in fact, despite his efforts, he’s released more oil into the market from the strategic reserves than every other president combined., and new oil permits have significantly outpaced permits during Trump’s admin.
but it’s deeply unserious to actually look at Biden’s record. As a president. unless that record is… you know… actually a positive record.
Israel has urged what it called “nations of the civilised world” to refuse to implement any international criminal court arrest warrants issued against its leaders....
Ages ago (2006?). Even then, they got something like 40% of the vote. Less than half the voting-age Gazans alive just before the oct 7 attack were even able to vote in the election. Less that a quarter of the current Gazans voted for Hamas.
This is in comparison to 2022 Israeli elections leading to the current government in Israel.

The 30-second video appeared on Trump’s account at a time when the presumptive Republican nominee for president, while seeking to portray President Joe Biden as soft on antisemitism, has himself repeatedly faced criticism for using language and rhetoric associated with Nazi Germany.
It was posted and shared on the former president’s Truth Social account while he was on a lunch break from his Manhattan hush money trial.
“This was not a campaign video, it was created by a random account online and reposted by a staffer who clearly did not see the word, while the President was in court,” Karoline Leavitt, the campaign press secretary, said in a statement.
It seems these two statements are in contradiction. Also. It was totally a staffer who didn’t see the bits about a reich. Yeah. it was an honest mistake, and not even more nazi rhetoric from the orange turd that has been using nazi rhetoric since his first presidential campaign…

What’s funny is, a survey of most dangerous tools in workplaces found the humble step stool to be the most dangerous. (May have included very short ladders,).
According to the actuary that told me this, his suspicion was that it was a matter of respect. Only a fucking dumb person failed to see the danger in a 40’ ladder. A step stool on the other hand was no big deal cuz it was just a foot or two off the ground.
That foot or two is enough to permanently paralyze you or leave you dead.
In any case… you’re absolutely right about the multiple layers of protection being there for a reason.
Jayne: You know what the chain of command is? It’s the chain I go get and beat you with ’til you understand who’s in ruttin’ command here. Now we’re finishing this deal. And then maybe—maybe—we’ll come back for those morons who got themselves caught. You can’t change that by gettin’ all… bendy.
Wash: All what?

Honestly? Nearly a decade of working contract security, including most of that time being level 3,
I can easily say that I’d rather not be armed.
First, carrying visible weapons makes people respond differently. They see you’re armed and everyone reacts to it. Its mere presence escalates situations.
Secondly, your very question implies the trap always being armed leads to- you assume this man is aggressive or hostile. And most often that assumption is flat wrong.
When all you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail.
Finally, situation awareness is infinitely more valuable than any weapon. You lose every fight you get into. Even if the other guy doesn’t harm you, if you draw down and shoot, you’re going to jail. You’re going to be held until they know what happened, and you’re probably getting charged.
You lose on legal fees. You probably lose your job. And now you have to live with guilt- even if the subject had it coming.
Also just a side note I was discussing open carry. Concealed is a different matter; concealed properly, no one will know until you draw. (And then things escalate fucking fast.)
