I guess France’s state position is pro-apartheid and in support of multi-decade ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, then. Which, you know… tell me some thing new :(

As an aside remark, it’s really funny how everyone has to elaborate what the fuck they’re talking about when they talk about Twitter.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Ubuntu explains the situation

could have just been written as

In a tweet, Ubuntu explains the situation

but the epic genius elon decided to destroy all brand recognition. Truly incredible thing to witness. Twitter literally got its own branded terms into common lexicon and he just set it all on fire.

New protected classes just dropped: fascists and landlords.

Because of how terribly things have turned out, I’d like to imagine that if France ended up successfully colonizing what we call Florida today that maybe it, and world history generally, would’ve been a tiny bit less shitty.

I think that would be nice but I think it would also raise a lot of eyebrows if Mozilla unilaterally decided to parental control your access to the Internet. It’s governance that’s the issue. Consider this www.cnn.com/2018/05/14/politics/…/index.html

Alive, they move like the wind. Shockingly, alarmingly fast.

This is true. It was both shocking and alarming how fast it moved when I first spotted one in my room after moving to the east coast.

Remember when Israel just mowed down peaceful protestors after Trump moved the American embassy to Jerusalem? That embassy hasn’t been moved back under a Democratic president, either.

en.wikipedia.org/…/2018–2019_Gaza_border_protests

This is but one example, under a climate of constant incursion into Gaza and stealing ever more land. That’s what Israeli settlements are, after all. They claim land from Palestinians, force them out of their homes, then move in Israeli families.

Anything Hamas does is self-defense.

Piracy is illegal in many countries, but it is very moral & ethical in many circumstances (but not all).

I had this game originally on some CD with a bunch of Apogee games. This was before I had developed the concept of money, so I didn’t know how to get more levels that were teased at the end of the shareware, but it was nevertheless my favorite game at the time.

The only noteworthy thing to know is that we Americans certainly wouldn’t try anything like this. Only the other would.

The potential of an unlimited spam generator hasn’t yet been fully realized but I think we’ll get a great taste in the next year.

I’m just taking a moment to remember the massive smear campaign against Corbyn, including the centrists in Labour working to undermine him during their election, and how ultimately it led to this dumbass taking the reins instead.

Did I miss it in the article? I cannot determine what the attack vector is. Am I downloading a malicious file? Am I running an insecure publicly facing service?

Ok, makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

That looks pretty good. May have to try this one.

This is why I’m fundamentally opposed to what the coreutils rewritten in Rust project is doing. And the guy who started it just claims that he’s not interested in the license or legal stuff, he just picked MIT. I mean, maybe he really doesn’t for all I know, but he can certainly imagine the implications of what he’s doing, no? Personally, I don’t believe him.

This FSF guy might sound like he’s coming in to be a scold but he’s absolutely correct (github.com/uutils/coreutils/issues/1781). We can clearly see the implications of an essential (coreutils) MIT-licensed project like in Android where it is “Linux” strictly speaking, in that it uses the kernel, but every other piece of code is some form of MIT or BSD licensed software that allows Google to, rather successfully, jail its users.

Edit: And if you want to do some reading about how this argument over licenses formed, especially with a PR campaign to support the non-GPL style ones, check out the first half of this piece about Tim O’Reilly (as in the O’Reilly books guy) thebaffler.com/salvos/the-meme-hustler

Is there a proper way to use several DE's on one distro or is it not advised?

I have read many conflicting things, like always. Just wondering if there’s a safe way to use several DE’s on one distro without messing up my damn computer lol I’ve tried it several times and it always messed things up. I’m currently brand new to fedora workstation 38 too btw. Thanks alot

YOU ARE A GENIUS!

Thank you! xdg-desktop-portal-gnome was already installed but removing xdg-desktop-portal-kde did the trick!

I’ve seen advice before that creating a new user account and using that to log into multiple DEs is an option.

GnuLinuxDude,
@GnuLinuxDude@lemmy.ml avatar

That’s a bit vague. What did you try, and what didn’t work?

Slow relative to what? Any zstd compression, while really fast, will be slower than native write speeds to my nvme. A tiny bit of ratio gain isn’t worthwhile to me.
