It’s nauseating that the hyperscalers are crankin’ the carbon to inflate the AI bubble like there’s no tomorrow (which there won’t be, for my children, if we don’t cut back) but hey, don’t forget that Bitcoin is still in the running for the single most dangerous-to-the-planet use of computers.

The Biden Admin's rule limiting credit card late fees was set to begin this past week.

But a Trump-appointed judge blocked it at the request of the Chamber of Commerce — costing families an estimated $27 million a day.

MAGA and corporate interests want to keep ripping you off.

Dunno if some dipshit will call me posting this FUD again, a mere week after the last time I said it. But once again: if you build your business on top of anything offered by Google in virtually any way, you are in "fool me seventeen times" territory here. No company has indicated its disdain for the developer ecosystem to the degree Google systematically does.

Everything that doesn't pull the revenue of Ads is eventually killed, and nothing pulls the revenue of Ads.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking it’s always going to be easy to detect propaganda trolls, whether Russian or whatever. Just be aware that they’re there.

It’s difficult to calibrate how much suspicion is reasonable, but there should always be some, if anything seems off.

@Green_Footballs There is no perfect method of detecting propaganda trolls, however I have a pinned post that contains two links, one is interactive. The links provide us with some valuable info as to how to identify trolls and bots.

The so-called “great instability” event that sent gas giants careening through space until they settled into orbits occurred between 60 and 100 million years after the birth of the solar system. Migrating planets primarily Jupiter, it turns out, may have led to the formation of Earth’s moon. Live Science explains: https://flip.it/wWBTEy

@Green_Footballs My reply to @mosseri in context. I am pleased that at least they didn’t deny doing it, or dawdle in fixing it, but they have to do a better job of not impugning people due to their own mistakes. They need to imagine how THEY would feel if their project was smeared, needlessly.

Texas MAGA loon Rep. Chip Roy is mad at the “swamp Republicans” because nobody “fact checked” Katie Britt’s speech.

Better be careful with that fact checking stuff, Republicans, it’s a slippery slope. Start fact-checking and before you know it you’ll realize your entire world view is based on lies.
