Quick test post. Just want to see if this gets sent to the new Bluesky bridge. If you're seeing this on Bluesky, hello and welcome to my corner of the fediverse. If you're seeing this elsewhere, enjoy a cute pony all the same. :happyderpy:
@LittleshyFiM Didn’t know you are on Bluesky as well now. Gave you a follow on there, and yes I can see your post (and replied) over there as well :) .
Went to Pasir Ris Park at the eastern end of Singapore to see if I can see any of the owls that nest there. Didn’t manage to spot them but did see all the chickens that have seemingly overrun the entire park lol.
Also I took the MRT metro there and the East-West Line train I rode on had a grasshopper clinging onto its exterior for dear life for the entire time I was on board. Here’s a picture of it just after I got off from the exterior, still clinging on the train at the terminal station and probably getting ready for another ride in the opposite direction.
@streetartutopia I still remember when a Singaporean artist did such guerrilla street art here. Unfortunately they were later arrested for vandalism, which led to a huge outcry here; many people felt their art wasn’t exactly damaging and was more meant to amuse than to annoy. After pressure from the people, they were ultimately convicted on lesser charges of mischief and sentenced to probation, being required to report to a day reporting centre; …
@streetartutopia …they were later invited by several companies to do art and art installations for them, including the company that runs the Sentosa resort island where they put up several satirical signs in a similar spirit to the guerrilla art that got them in trouble with the law in the first place.
After fully reading through this I have decided to switch to DuckDuckGo. Not because I think their results are better - they aren’t that much better to be honest - but because I no longer want to support Google’s practices by using them.
We really - and urgently - need something that can provide genuinely good web search results again. And preferably, it should come from a non-profit organisation that open-sources their search indexes as well.
The algorithms can remain closed-source - letting people know how it works is just inviting SEO abusers to openly game and hijack it - but the index itself should be available for anyone to build their own search engine upon if they want to.
@fauli1221 Yeah, this was why I was also reluctant to use DuckDuckGo as well. But then again basically every major search engine is shoving AI bullshit into them nowadays, so unless someone else comes along with a good, AI-free and open alternative I will have to settle for DuckDuckGo for now.
Bing is even worse in this regard, and its search results have always been even wonkier as well. Plus it forces safe search to be locked on for my region for some idiotic reason too.
@fauli1221 Like, yeah, I might not like seeing NSFW in my search results all the time, but given how the filters often catch completely SFW or just mildly suggestive pics as NSFW, I often have to leave that setting off just in case I’m missing something the filter wrongly marked as NSFW.
Since I reached 500 followers here I though if I might be able to make a raffle though since I can't draw myself I got in contact with @belkasempai and the winner of this raffle will get a full body commission from them paid by me
