#NextCloud Office with #Collabora: "doesn't spark joy" would be a compliment. 😔

Still a long way to go for FOSS in this corner.

I wonder what organizations running NextCloud are using for collaborative office solutions. Is it OnlyOffice? Something else? No collaboration but NextCloud sync somehow and local LibreOffice? 🤔

Has somebody experience here?

@publicvoit @theron29 @number137 Hi, if your problems start with a simple file rename...then maybe you should look more for problems on the Server/hosting, nextcloud installation or performance, then on Nextcloud/Collabora in general?

Oder liegt das daran, dass ich den HA als KVM Instanz laufen habe?

@bodsch Schön das der Wechsel auf den Stick scheinbar den gleiche "wow" effekt hatte wie bei mir. Aber welches "mitgelieferte" Dashboard meinst du hier?

Wie sichere ich eine mit #BitLocker verschlüsselte Platte?

Ich kann mich nicht anmelden und es deaktivieren.
Ist nicht mein Gerät.

Oder ist das ein Problem und ein eventueller Restore würde nicht booten?

@schenklklopfer @kkarhan @isAutonomous ..Image Backup am einfachsten "vor" dem crash aus dem laufenden Windows. Ist dann halt unverschlüsselt. Gibt zwar tools die offline bitlocker disks clonen können. Bringt natürlich null wenn weder login klappt noch ein recovery key vorhanden ist. Aber was wäre hier dann bei einem verschlüsseltem linux anders?

My ancient 2 is evidently getting too slow to run properly.

I don't want to spin up a VM, or buy a huge server. I want something discrete and discreet.

I like the look of the "Yellow", but I refuse to buy any gadget which doesn't use USB-C for power. So no PoE either.

So, does anyone have a personal recommendation for a HomeAssistant device which has built-in Matter / Thread / Zigbee support?

(I know how to Google. Looking for word-of-mouth recommendations.)

In der Klasse unserer Tochter ist die Gründung einer Eltern-WhatsApp-Gruppe geplant. Jetzt ist Aufklärung mit Fingerspitzengefühl gefragt. Einerseits will man nicht der Bedenkenträger sein, der das ohnehin schon angekratzte Datenschutzbild weiter beschädigt, andererseits ist die Nutzung von WhatsApp gerade im schulischen Kontext einfach nicht in Ordnung.

But let me tell you a little story. 14 years ago, a young student came to our IT department and told me "...Windows has no future anymore, Linux is the better OS, is open source and license-free...it will also displace Windows on the desktop.. "

Now let me, 14 years later, briefly check how many Linux desktop installations we have here in the company...out of almost 6000 desktop operating systems worldwide, around... zero run under Linux.
Well, it's still exciting to see how the story continues ;-)

Hi, I already understood what you meant. I didn't want to express that we shouldn't/don't want to change the IT world.
But fact, I've been hearing for several years, "Windows is crap, Linux is better, Windows is insecure, Windows is a GUI catastrophe."
And? It's still there. Why if it's such rubbish?

My purely personal experience from 23 years of IT. The “simple” user (not IT-savvy) still finds it easiest to cope with this.
The many verses Linux distributions/desktops unsettle users. Even hardcore Linux users argue about which distro is the best.
Instead of creating a uniform interface, every Linux user creates their own. It simply doesn't work that way in industry.
