Twitter does not seem to have any resemblance to reality anymore.

And it is clearly dying.

So, here's my story. This latest paper I finished last night? I was supposed to look at my organization's mission statement, resources, and interventions to determine if there are any gaps in implementing the action plan to become trauma-informed.

If you don't understand what was asked, it's OK. All you need to understand is this: I'm a stay-at-home mom of a trauma-affected kid, and I don't work at an organization. Over the past four classes, I've had to modify three other assignments because I do not work at a school Those three professors were fine with the modifications.

This one? No. See, she's a Special Education Director and graduated from law school. And somehow has decided that this allows her to be horrible to us. Like horrible.

What is really annoying is that while I might not be a Special Education Director, I am an attorney and perhaps I've sued Special Education Directors.

Oh, there's more to the story...

Thinking about the Alabama Supreme Court decision.

There has to be a group of people who are in shock that their votes for pro-life policies mean that they might not become parents or grandparents.

One of the implications of the decision is that doctors can only make one embryo at a time, and that embryo must be transferred no matter the quality. If the cycle fails, the process must start again.

"Each transfer requires months’ worth of expensive medication, including injectable, both before and after the procedure. And each failed cycle requires the patient to start all over again. Most states (including Alabama) do not require insurance to cover IVF, and each cycle can cost up to $30,000."

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/02/abortion-bans-alabama-ivf-explained.html

Even if someone in Alabama had insurance that covered IVF, I highly doubt that insurance would cover the procedure if done out of state.

Immigration was the GOP's hope to counter Dobbs. Sen. Chris Murphy wants to go after it head-on.

Do it.

"Murphy, who served as the lead Democratic negotiator on a bipartisan border security bill that Republicans rejected largely along party lines last week, pointed to Suozzi’s forceful messaging on the border and immigration, which the senator argued can “serve as a roadmap for Democrats” in November."

OK - If you were one of the 96 prospective jurors, would you be able to be fair and impartial?

I think that I could be, but I would disclose that I am on social media bashing Trump nearly every single day. I would not want that to come out later and risk being fodder for an appeal.

EDIT: Under the judge's definition of a fair juror, I'd have to be dismissed. A fair juror is one with no bias or prejudice.

Oh, well count me as out of here.

I'm going to just check Mastodon.

And 75 minutes later, I'm still here.

But, unlike my time spent in other sites in the past, there was no doomscrolling. Thoughtful, and possibly blasphemous, conversation.

Looking at you, @enoch, for that last one. 😂

Why yesterday's special election victory is bad news for Biden.

"Democrats may have won the special election in New York, but Tom Suozzi's win could suggest that there's a winning tactic for Democratic candidates—as long as they're willing to abandon President Joe Biden."

Spent the day yesterday with our youngest's half-sibling. Great family, and for the most part, great day.

But...

Sibling had a breakdown the night before triggered by the visit. Shared a story of huddling in a corner, protecting our child, as bio mom and our child's presumed father got into a fight that ended with a knife being drawn and mom bleeding*.

Adoptive family** that has cousins gave bio mom the name and contact info for sibling's family, and bio mom reached out.

I shared this on FB, and one of my IRL friends shared the post.***

Ugh.

Still a fun time. But ugh.

Define misinterpreted, Sen. Rubio.

Wow. We're the ones that haven't figured it out by now. OK, Senator.

Happy Not Mother's Day to me! 😂

Parenting a child impacted by trauma is a rather interesting thing. I knew we were on the path to healing when he told me that I was still a fucker, but he loved me.

Happy Father's Day to everyone who has stepped in to be there for a child.

And Happy Not Mother's Day to all of you fuckers out there.

"“Don’t discount that I defeated a dozen fellas,” Haley continued. “Don’t discount that I ended up with 20% in Iowa when y’all said I wouldn’t make it. Don’t discount that I got 43% New Hampshire, and don’t discount me now.”

“Why would I get out as long as we keep it competitive?” she added."

The 43% included a big push from Democrats who crossed over to stop Trump. And Haley responded by stating that should Trump win the nomination, she would vote for him to stop a President Harris.

If Nikki Haley is planning on voting for Trump, Democrats need to stop supporting her. She is not Never Trump.

South Carolina's primary is Saturday. Democrats are being asked to cross-over and vote for Nikki Haley to save democracy.

Nikki Haley announced today that she supports the Alabama Supreme Court decision that IVF embryos are babies.

She may not be as crazy as Trump. She may not be besties with Putin. The woman is still a danger.

Nikki Haley has reached the Saying Whatever Her Advisors Think Will Create a Coalition of Anti-Trump Voters Even if It Means Contradicting Herself stage of her campaign.

She's not a Never Trumper. And she has better numbers against Biden.

By continuing with campaign, she poses a threat to Biden. Democrats have been encouraged to vote for her in the primaries to stop Trump. That strategy implies that she has a legitimacy - she's somehow Not Trump. If she shifts back to Trump after dropping out, that legitimacy shifts, too.

Democrats need to stop supporting her. She needs to be pushed into dropping out sooner rather than later.

"Eric Johnston, a lawyer who helped draft Alabama's constitutional language on abortion in 2018, told the BBC: "By and large the pro-life community would say that fertilised eggs are in need of protection."
But he acknowledged there were couples with anti-abortion views who had used IVF to have children, and said he would never condemn them.
"It's a dilemma, and a dilemma is something where you don't have a satisfactory answer," he added."

That's going to be my answer for all things now. It's a dilemma, and a dilemma where we don't have a satisfactory answer.

Except voting them out.

Talking with my mother yesterday about how no-fault divorce is going to be targeted. She starting asking questions about how one would get divorced, and then asked what this group intended to do about domestic violence as that surely would be grounds for divorce.

My answer was simple: domestic violence would be eliminated. That, too, goes back to the Good Ol' Days.

Best money I spent in 2022 was donating directly to four congressional candidates in PA to support their GOTV efforts. Turning out congressional districts helps in state-wide elections.

And I see you, Texas. I don't think Biden can pull it off, but I'm watching Allred.

"Of the $57 million, $33 million will go to mobilizing Latino voters in support of Biden, as well as Democratic House and Senate candidates in eight states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin — primarily through door-knocking campaigns, bilingual paid communication and "robust" community organizing, according to the campaign plan. Its nonprofit will spend another $24 million to expand nonpartisan voter education programs, which include help in registration, information about voting and the election."
