Y'all want to hear a fact that really changed the way I thought about homelessness?

Half of all homeless people were in the foster system at some point. Social Workers often call the foster system The Highway to Homelessness. If you ever had a point in your life where you had to live with friends or family to for a short time to get back on your feet, remember that is a privilege that not everyone had.

CA also has a new program regarding tuition and enrollment for foster youth at colleges, but I do know how it is working out.

This is one of those things where the mentorship aspect of CASA is crucial. Just having an adult help you figure out these programs can help.

And community colleges are frequently overlooked for all kids. They may have certificate programs that provide training for jobs.

I've been very fortunate to find myself in a nice career.

I know many people who haven’t had the same path and the weight of student loans is financially drowning them. I'm truly happy that this will do something to give back to people who put so much in, but can’t break out from underneath the system.

This kind of policy won’t be coming from Republicans. Joe Biden has my vote.

I love YA biographies. As a teacher, I tried to hook kids into a passion as it could fuel a love of reading, and biographies were a key part of that.

In November I saw this book at our library and checked it out. I read two chapters and realized what a treasure it was. I had to put it aside for a bit. Ignoring all the friendly reminders to to return it, I finally got back to it this weekend. It is amazing.

Yesterday, I realized it was written by @Teri_Kanefield.

Sure - Biden's too old.

And he's the incumbent. An incumbent who has passed a significant amount of legislation.

The real story is that Republicans are also choosing to nominate a candidate that is too old and incredibly dangerous. A too old guy that wants to do Putin's bidding.

Any conversation about age needs to call out Republicans for failing to put up an alternative. Their guy is not the incumbent. They have more of a choice than Democrats, and they aren't looking to choose someone younger. They are going with an old guy who wants to destroy our country for Putin.

As long as Republicans insist on their old guy, we need our old guy.

Lucy Caldwell, a Never Trumper, has repeatedly warned about donating to campaigns that are unwinnable. She points to Marcus Flowers, the Democrat who challenged MTG. He collected a ton of $$ and was never going to win.

She recently encouraged people to start donating to campaigns now. She said it helps with staffing and building out the campaign as they don't need to guess about what $$ is coming later this summer.
