I can use a Shelly EM to monitor the energy of two circuits in my office's panel. I'm mostly interested in monitoring the 220V circuit of the Ductless AC. It's $60 with 2 60A clamps.

I have a Vue Gen 2 monitor I haven't installed yet that I could install in the office panel, once I flash it with ESP32. I don't need it in the main panel, but it would only give me total usage of the office subpanel.

I wish there was a Shelley EM or clamp like device for about $30 😆 to use in

@motoridersd I have a Vue2 that I flashed with esphome. It was a pain to solder the headers on the board. Also configuring it was really confusing (to me, user error). And it randomly stopped reporting two weeks ago after a year of running -- I just haven't had the motivation to open up my panel and reset the thing. I'm pretty sure the flash chip on it is done.

That's all to say, I wish you better luck than I've with the Vue2!

    Damn it. The Asus G16 I like only has 16 GB of RAM and I don't think that's enough to figure proof. I could buy it with the intention of returning it and then waiting for a better deal later on a 32 GB version.

    The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i is very similar to the Asus G16 but it has a higher res display that is Mini LED vs OLED. That one I can find with 32 GB for a little more than the price of the G16 (after coupons and stuff) but I'm sure it will go on sale more eventually, as most Lenovo stuff does

    @motoridersd I upgraded my Framework to 32 GB and I can upgrade to 64 GB (or more) later if/when I feel like it 😉 (only using one stick right now, I've got another slot to fill)

    Having a hard time getting started today. I'd rather be back out on top of a mountain.

    A short backpacking trip this weekend was what I needed. Perfect weather, basically no one else on the trail, and the spring closest to the ridge we camped on was actually flowing!

    And the sunrise over the Shenandoah River valley and Shenandoah National Park was beautiful.

    Next weekend I hope to have my first backpacking experience.

    I found a small state park with nice trails and a "backpacking campsite" about 2.5 miles and 200ft of elevation from the main campground. The site has vault toilets and is stocked with firewood and a ring.

    I took Mon off and I plan to do hikes in 2 to 3 hour chunks. One night at the backpack site and I night at the proper campground with toilets and showers. Total hikes would be 10 miles and approx 1,000 ft of elevation.

    @biscuit_pup you'll get there! And as long as you have a warm sleeping bag, you'll appreciate the low night temps. I hate being unable to sleep because of warm/humid nights.

    You're definitely more prepared than I was for my first backpacking experience. I just decided to go one day and did it solo (with my dog).

    Hope you have a blast as soon as you're all set!

    @motoridersd @john when getting mine, I played along the whole time, seeming interested but non-committal in all the add-ons... Then when I got to the paperwork phase I made them do the work -- give me actual cost per service and feature. Then I explicitly denied each one.

    I think they realized once I asked for itemized numbers I wasn't going to go for it. Their demeanor changed pretty drastically and got me out the door fast. But I got a pretty good deal anyway haha
