Auto kill memory leaking processes before swap death loop

I’m using linux mint 21.3, and a process (brave aka chrome) sometimes memory leaking, so eats all the RAM, and then linux goes into swap death loop, when everything freezes (sometimes the mouse cursor is moving), and nothing can’t be done, i can just see the HDD led blinking, and do a reset. Is there a way to make the system...

KarmaPolice,

I think that systemd oomd is pretty slow. I get a quite a few minutes of unresponsive system while waiting for oomd to do something. Honestly rebooting is faster than waiting for it to work.

I recently installed and enabled earlyoomd on fedora, and on an initial test, I still got an unresponsive system with the default settings, but after around 20 seconds or so, it killed the responsible process and I was able to continue working. Not perfect, but much better.

KarmaPolice,

I cannot find anything about this. Do you have a reliable source for this claim?

KarmaPolice,

This is kinda weird… Yeah, they can get big. Most usual is to have 4 names (2 first names + mother + father)

Anyway, it’s kinda weird because I wouldn’t give anyone more than first and last name… And that’s what most people do, (unless we’re in the rare situation where two people share the same first + last name). Why was your friend making you write his full name?

KarmaPolice,

Most database engines support stored procedures. You don’t need to give money to oracle, you can give it to Microsoft instead.

KarmaPolice,

Yes, those work :-) giving money to MS was more of a joke.

KarmaPolice,

Not sure what you’re trying to say here… did you copy the wrong line from the script?

KarmaPolice,

I would expect debris to hit the moon a few hours later. I wonder if you’d run out of oxygen first, or get see rocks falling all around you, and possibly hitting you.

MichDdev, to jellyfin

Shoutout to @jellyfin I've been really enjoying this piece of software the past few months, and it's given me the drive to clean up my music collection so it presents nicely in the media library. :)

KarmaPolice,

I’m wondering what I’m missing here… I have proxmox, and jellyfin is running on a lxc container, along with other stuff. The whole server uses 10W on idle. It does jump to 35W when transcoding, but is that bad? Is jellyfin notoriously power hungry?

KarmaPolice,

Yeah. The USA is the one supplying the most monetary help, but I doubt Ukraine would just give up, if that help stopped.

Trump to release taped interview with Tucker Carlson, skipping GOP debate (www.washingtonpost.com)

Former president Donald Trump intends to skip the first Republican presidential primary debate in Milwaukee on Wednesday and instead plans to post a prerecorded interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that will be released that night, according to a person briefed on the matter....

KarmaPolice,

You’re missing the party where the man that approached Tucker had tears in his eyes.
