MxRemy,

Thanks for the added context! That’s a huge relief

MxRemy,

Definitely take this with a huge grain of salt, but I’ve heard a little anecdotal stuff about potential unintended consequences? Mostly in the form of paradoxical increases in T as the adrenals overcompensate. But I think those tend to level out eventually? I’d love it if somebody could correct me or expound upon this.

The real question is, are you retaining the extra skin or not? I think I’d keep it, personally, just for funsies 😝

Enough interest for a Haxe community? (haxe.org)

My friends and I are mostly novices at programming, and we’re practicing by trying to collaborate on a game written in Haxe. It doesn’t seem like there’s any large web presence of Haxe programmers though. Would people have interest in having one here? Just something simple like:...

MxRemy,

Great! And definitely start poking around the tutorials, it’s pretty relatively user friendly.

Hopefully somebody from here is willing to start up a community. I only just realized I don’t think I can start one from an account that’s outside the instance where the community would be 😅

MxRemy,

Tyyyyy~~~

Definitely no hurry at all!

MxRemy,

Even coming from different worlds, worlds at war with each other, couldn’t keep these two apart. It’s so beautiful 😭

Pixel users, do you have any problems with your phone fragility?

A friend of mine bought several google pixels and, the firts time they slipped from her pocket, their screen completely broke, even if they had a cover and a screen protector, and this happened with three models. So, how’s your experience and how I can prevent my pixels from breaking? Thanks for the eventual responses, and...

MxRemy,

The stock one? 😭 Don’t roast me pleassseee, I know…

MxRemy,

Thanks! I was planning on trying LineageOS once the stock OS got too outdated to keep using, but only because it was the one I knew about. Any pros or cons between Calyx and Lineage?

MxRemy,

There are definitely a few potential options, I think! Mostly experimental ones though, so no guarantees that they actually work lol. For example:

  • Sinter it. Basically print at 100% infill, completely pack it in salt/sand/etc, and heat it in a kiln/oven/etc. The plastic will (hopefully) remelt and solidify without all the pockets inside.
  • Seal it with something foodsafe and nonpermeable, some kind of varnish or lacquer, even electroplating maybe. The pockets will still be in there but nothing will be able to get into them.
  • Use the 3d print for lost PLA casting instead, essentially replacing it with something else like metal.
MxRemy,

It’s less rigid than PLA, but wayyyyy more durable. It can really take a beating. The only major downside is that it warps, but there’s definitely ways around that. Also just from having handled it a bunch, for some reason it’s just got the nicest texture. You know how those incredibly strong thermoset plastics they use for pot handles and such almost don’t feel like plastic, compared to something like PET? It’s like that.

MxRemy,

There aren’t many people making it yet. So far as I know there’s just Colorfabb AllPHA, Filaments.ca Regen, and Beyond Plastic PHA. That’s like 2 more suppliers than there were a year ago though, so I’d say it’s growing more popular?

It warps during printing pretty similarly to ABS yeah, but it has the exact opposite solution weirdly enough. You wanna turn your bed heat completely off, and have it as unenclosed as possible.

MxRemy,

I will never stop recommending PHA lol.

MxRemy,

That looks so good! What flavors do you have?

MxRemy,

Due to EEOC (equal enjoyment opportunities commission) guidelines, I must appreciate all dick pics I receive.

MxRemy,

If you wanna stay in-fediverse, you could post the pics on a Pixelfed instance and use that as the host. Just post the pic there, copy the direct URL to it, put it in the URL bar in a post here and it will show up as a normal picture instead of a link. Also Pixelfed allows unlisted pics, like if it’s stuff that would clutter up your profile.

Running Haxe on Gitpod? (hub.docker.com)

Some friends and I are trying to learn Haxe together by working on a simple game. We’re all like pretty much total amateurs at this stuff. For collaborating I set us up a repo for it on Gitlab, and I’ve been trying to run the actual code through Gitpod, but I can’t get it to work… Has anyone else done this successfully?...

How to build a solar oven with cardboard boxes, tin foil and plexiglass (solarcooking.fandom.com)

This looks like a fun little project that I think people here would enjoy! I have a little stack of tin foil takeaway boxes that I could use for this. Just need to get hold of the plexiglass (or the oven bag they suggest, but I’d like to do it entirely with reusables if possible)....

MxRemy,

I’ve done this and it definitely works, but it’s also finicky for sure. What I’d really like to know is how to build a DIY evacuated tube. AFAIK, the current very best designs for a solar oven use one, and almost nobody seems to manufacture the things.

Advice for running Wanderhome for the first time?

My group has been playing Blades in the Dark for a while and were thinking of changing gears a bit to something softer and that had talking animals. I’ve read through the rules and it seems great! Any advice though for a firsttime group? Guide vs guideless, online play setup (we’ve been using roll20 for Blades), playbooks...

MxRemy,

If you’re into spreadsheets, I found those to be pretty helpful for notes and such. Here’s mine from when my group tried it: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/…/edit?usp=drivesd…

MxRemy,

In a similar vein, muffaletta as a bagel topping.

MxRemy,

A bunch, but I think my current favorite might be Agastache foeniculum

MxRemy,

There's not enough variety in body type either... It's just boring! And why is it only women, where are the men??

Federated Fanfiction Platform?

Is there a Fediverse option for hosting fanfiction, or maybe web novels/serials/etc? Like an AO3 alternative, basically. I looked around but couldn't find one, the closest thing that kinda works are the blogging platforms like writefreely. If there isn't, do you think fanfiction would be a good candidate for federation?
