Sounds like you’re describing dissociation. I’d talk to a therapist if possible. It might be triggered by trauma or other condition as someone else mentioned.
I don’t think this is the first evidence of a gesture for non-primate animals. Cats have a subtle gesture, where if 2 cats are hunting the same prey, one will look away, telling the other “go ahead” in a way.

Would you be more likely to visit a doctor who could confidently diagnose everything, or was willing to admit they aren’t 100% sure? Most people want answers, and would change doctors if they don’t get an answer, or an answer they want.
