Hi there, my name is Andy, I'm from Belgium.
I spend most of my free time digitising and restoring classic video game magazines, mostly from the UK.
I've been doing this for nearly 20 years now and I'm here to share my passion for these magazines with others.
I love to read and talk about gaming memories from years gone by.

My main hobbies are gaming, both modern and retro gaming, as well as Japanese, South Korean and classic Hong Kong cinema.

I'm looking for anyone who can confirm this.

For several years now, I've been frustrated that my copy of Official Nintendo Magazine 20 - September 2007 (UK) has page 43 and 44 torn out.
That's why it hasn't been released yet.

I bought a second copy last year and to my horror it had the same problem.

Not it seems that this was done by the team itself as page 43 was a misprint and they tore it out of the magazine before shipping?!

Can anyone confirm this?

Looks like Star Ocean 2 on Switch will not have the full game on the cart. Seems Square went with only an 8GB cart so it needs an additional download of 4.1GB.
I had it preordered but just cancelled and I’ll now get it when it’s something like €20 instead.

I really hate these penny pinching practices.

EDIT:

looks like the European version doesn't require a download.
It does have an optional one for languages besides Japanese and English.

Pictures added.

Yearly reminder to charge all your portables, controllers, and anything with an internal battery at least once a year, or better yet, every 6 months.

This way you lower the risk of the batteries going bad and starting to bloat.
I had this happen with 4 PSP ones a couple of years ago, so I started taking precautions.

Excuse the mess, as this is the only place where I have more than a dozen outlets in the same spot. :blobcatscared:

I won't have time to post anything today before work as I just ran into another hard drive issue.
Looks like the catalogue file of my main magazine drive has become corrupted and a doesn't mount anymore.
Can't repair it with the programs I've got that usually do work, but I'm able to get the data off of it with DrillDisk.
I also have 2 backups, so I ordered a new HDD and will start putting everything together again and manually check it all for losses.

Spent the last couple of hours updating my PS3 that had been boxed up for about 10 years or so, and recovering my forgotten US account.
Why, you ask?

Well, to finally do something which I had been planning for over a decade but never actually did.

To buy the two SMT Devil Summoner Raidou games, the second which never came out in Europe. 👹
Grabbed Grandia 3 as well as Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. 🥰

Bit of a mess to get funds to the console nowadays, but it's done.

I somehow missed the release of this last week. And honestly, I'm blown away that it's even on iTunes as there's only a sliver of the Persona CDs on there.

Grabbed Day 1 and 2 instantly.

I know what I'll be listening to this weekend! :cat_music:

Not gonna lie, the rumblings about Xbox change in strategy is getting under my skin.
Not about others getting to play Xbox games or anything like that, but what it means for the platform itself.

What's the point of even owning one anymore if the rumours are true?
It'll start getting less 3rd party support for sure, especially niche games and Japanese support I figure.
And what about my digital library going forward, which spans over a thousand games on said platform?
What a waste...

Trying to find some articles to post with a winter/Christmas theme.

Surprisingly, this is a lot harder that I thought...

Besides the obvious picks like snowboard games, I can think of games like Diddy Kong Racing with it's incredible snow track, Christmas NiGHTS, Die Hard Trilogy, Gremlins and such, but not much else.

So if you can think of a good one, let me know and I'll try to hunt down the articles. 😉

Ok, I'm panicking a little over here.

I was just going through the new magazines and I love the look and feel of N-Force, so I decided to buy 5 more issues.

The seller has his PMs closed, so I added them to my basket and it added all the shipping costs up as if they would be shipped individually. Up to 90€ for 5 magazines! :blobcatscared:

So I attempted to request a total, but got an error. Then shortly thereafter I get 5 emails stating the sale did go through...
How screwed am I?

Another pretty terrible day at work, and soaking wet from the drive home though the rain for half an hour...

But at least this cheered me up.
My films actually got through customs without having to pay ransom for a change!
All via Terracotta. 3 Third Window Films, eum.... films....
And a classic from 88 Films

So incredibly happy right now.
I spent all day yesterday trying to get my Fenrir to work on my old Saturn.
What I didn't realise was that I switched my working Saturn with one I got for free 20+ years ago from an import shop.

I couldn't get it to work at all.
It didn't make any sense since it's a Japanese system and it booted up with English as it's main language, but then gave an error message that the region wasn't correct.

This is all I got to see

Just home from another early shift, working with some truly awful people.
Honestly, I'm not able to take much more of this.
It's been more than a week of nothing but two faced, nasty bs from this temp.
I'm gonna have them make a choice tomorrow as I'm done working with this guy.

This latest triple pack from Super Rare was waiting for me at home and I'm not even in the mood to open them up. sigh... 😑

Ah damnit. Spent an hour in the character creator in Starfield just before I have to leave for work.
Finally finished. Gave my character a name and clicked finish. Then the game crashes. 🫤

New box from Limited Run just arrived.
One of the best games ever made, and then one of the most questionable games purchases that I've made in a long time. 😂
And two more games somewhere in between.

Been looking into Game Boy games that I missed out on and damn, the prices are just insane!
Especially if you want more than a cart only copy with the label half rubbed off. 😱

I might have to finally consider and look into an ever drive as I’m not paying €500 for a copy of Elevator Action, no matter how much I love the game!

(And also since I’ve had a copy since the 90s. 😅

Last night I was ready to start a new RPG. It’s been quite a while so I was in the perfect mood for it.
And since I watched that Ys video I really wanted to play an entry into the series.
Since I can’t restart 8 on PS5 yet, I decided to go with Memories of Celceta.
I only played the intro back in the day on Vita. Played for about 3 hours last night and I’m really enjoying it. Can’t wait to go home late tonight and play some more.

This weekend is going to be nuts!
Not only did I get The RayStorm and RayCrisis collection as well as World of Horror this week, but also 10 new retro gaming magazines, the actually new issue of Retro Gamer came in today and I got 2 new books.

And to top things off, Play-Asia came through with not one, but two orders at once! :pika_omg:

-Oh wow! A two part Wii U retrospective that's over 4 hours long! click

/Continues to shit on the system and it's games as well as the Wii from the very beginning and just doesn't let up,

Quite the timing of this arriving today, as it might as well be the last Xbox game I end up buying for a long, long time, if ever.

Very specific right now as it’s only the Steam release in Japan that is being delisted. But it might be a sign of things to come due to the licence expiring.

So if you want this game digitally, I would wait too long to pick it up.

I spent the better part of yesterday, and all day today trying to finish the first issue I have of N-Force, and it's finally ready!

I never had an issue of this before, but it's such a fun magazine, and I love the specially created artwork for each review, even though I'm not quite sure about the review setup at times.

N-Force 4 - October 1992 (UK) has just been added to the magazine catalogue.

Enjoy!

Ok, I admit. I might have overdone it a little here.

But these were all super cheap, except for the Castlevania one since that's a Limited Run release so it was €60, but I adore Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.
