After the weekend off, I’m back on my Octopath Traveler 2 bullshit. This time, a new focused approach. Going to do just the 4 characters, finish their stories, then do the other 4. Less to manage, less disjointed, more focused.

Hate watching reviews for a game I’ll never play. How’s your Sunday?

(The game is Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes)

Taking an “octobreak” from Octopath Traveler 2 to try out Terra Memoria - a cozier JRPG with Fantastic Mr. Fox anthropomorphic heroes.

So & fans... I'm struggling with Octopath Traveler 2. I can handle random battles, but that combined with super disjointed stories & very restrictive party management is making the game less fun and more burdensome and/or disruptive.

I'm thinking of switching (pun intended) to Terra Memoria for a fun, cozy experience.

Anyone else struggle with OT2?

I've been reading a lot lately so, I think I'll do some "serious" now and play more , which has been a bit abandoned for a bit :blobcatderpy:

Another brilliant video by Alex, showing more must play JRPGs that get overlooked a lot.

I want to give the genre a try. I have been thinking about this for more than a year and I eventually settled on as the perfect JRPG (probably). And now there is that second dilemma: Should I play the first one or skip to the second one? The Internet claims the games are unrelated and the second one is simply better.

Breath of Fire IV felt like a return to I and II SNES games but with the upgraded feel of PS1 tech.

Released for the PS1 on April 27, 2000.

Lufia II: The Rise of the Sinistrals, released for the SNES on Aug 31, 1996, is a masterful sequel that surpasses its predecessor in every way.

One of my favorite games I own on the SNES.

It was just last week that I learned about the history of the RPG series.

And now I know that / style fights are not actually a Japanese invention, but Wizardry's influence on Japanese gaming and pop culture.

I never particularly liked the front-facing battle screens, and now I know who and what to blame. Finally.

It’s hard to believe I own such an obscure RPG like Robotrek as a kid. I probably got it off a Toys r Us discount bin and with my love for RPG’s I had to have it. Never thought years later it would become highly sought after physically and much more appreciated.

Did you ever buy an obscure game that became wildly popular much later?

Anyone looking for a fun JRPG to play on mobile should check out Another Eden if you haven't already. It's been out for a while but I just discovered it & it's great to pick up & play for 30-60 minutes at a time. It has in-app purchases, but I have yet to find anything that requires spending money (although I will probably buy something so I don't feel guilty not giving the developers anything). It's easily up there with SQEX, Atlus, etc. quality.

I'm not one for "New Year's resolutions", but I am one for overly ambitious projects.

For 2023, Project365 is "One New Game Per Day".

Given that I have 634 unplayed games in my Steam account and {mumble} unredeemed bundle Steam keys, there's a reason my unplayed collection is tagged "Pile of Shame".

I'll pin this to my profile, and give a brief summary here each day (or x, if I miss x days due to work or stuff).

I'll play 15-30 minutes of (at least) one new game I've never played before (or played less than 15 minutes of). I'll give every game at least 15 minutes, even if I hate every minute of it.

I'm also open to suggestions; if you reply to this thread with a game, I'll schedule it, or tell you what I thought of it.

One of the things that's come up is that I have a bunch of games that I've played once, and not touched again.

Unplayed games:
Trying a game again:
Going live on Twitch:

I'll hashtag these with so you can mute it if you're not interested.

Did I enjoy it? No. Am I the target market for Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga?
