Walked into the office today to see people had been discussing me

When you walk into the room and the people in it exchange glances to one another, and then laugh, it doesn’t make you want to work here. For me, and where I live, it makes me want to move to Europe, or the U.K. and never come back. I’m treated like crap. I don’t like what I do for a living since 2017. I wish I had stood up...

ParabolicMotion,

Thank you for understanding. From about 2017 to 2020 it became quite a living hell, since I felt forced out of my career at that point. Some people have been really understanding and supportive, but that isn’t always the case. I have been trying to return to my career, hoping things will improve, once I have a contracted position again. People like my parents will still not treat me any better because of it, though, I’m sure. I have a job interview for a contracted position with salary. That job offer is for a state in the Deep South. I’m female. I’m separated. I’m in my 30’s. I don’t know how they’ll react to me if I move there. I have hundreds of relatives in the South, but I have never even met some of them, and many of them hate democrats, I’m sure. Wish me luck, right? If you see me running to an airport in Alabama with my luggage flying open, in a hurry to high tail it out of town, you’ll know it didn’t go well!

ParabolicMotion,

I once saw a car accident on a freeway that involved burning bodies within the cab of the vehicle. Nothing I’ve seen online compares to that. Maybe I’ve just avoided the worst of the worst online, but nothing has been that graphic.

ParabolicMotion,

Well, unfortunately, when you’re poor and want to return to school, or change careers, your cheapest option is the military. Everyone stereotypes the military as offering only combat soldier jobs. The military offers more than just one career option. Want to change careers and become a medic to gain training for when you leave the military and can actually afford medical school? There’s the Army for that. Want to learn how to repair airplanes and jets as an aviation mechanic? There’s the Air Force for that. Everyone will just downvote me anyway. Let’s carry on that anti-military sentiment.

ParabolicMotion,

If only it were free, right? Try having a graduate degree in math and become poor/ostracized from the community due to filing for divorce. Suddenly, your only option for a career change is returning to college, or asking the Army to enlist you. Oh, but weighing 125lbs at the time is too fat for the tape test, they don’t like the fact you’ve had an organ removed, and you’re old by that point with kids. Yes, college should be free. It should also be free to change your name and immediately have all your records updated to match that new name, so you can start over in life without any discrimination.

ParabolicMotion,

It isn’t just the math community in my local area, it’s the whole community. Everyone is hell bent on looking perfect and maintaining a pristine image. They can’t risk endorsing a colleague, or community member that has filed for divorce.

ParabolicMotion,

Well said. I couldn’t agree with you more.

ParabolicMotion,

I live in the United States.

My spouse abused me and there are police reports that show the abuse, plus a restraining order against him.

I already changed my name once, out of tradition, because I wanted to have my husband’s last name after marriage. It was an absolute nightmare to change my last name. Many background reports don’t even show my marriage record. One of them listed me as “German” under the box that said “race”. I’m not even German. I’m mostly Scottish and Irish. You know who is German? My mother-in-law. She was actually born in Germany and changed her last name after marriage, too. Also, my sister-in-law had the same last name after my husband’s dad adopted her. She has criminal records. I now have to worry about my mother-in-law and sister-in-law having their records be mixed up with mine. Thankfully none of the criminal records have ended up on my report by mistake. The major issue is the federal government not linking my married name to my maiden name to fully ahow all of my vital records. It’s annoying. The state, or the feds, are either really slow, or they just slack on record keeping/reporting.

ParabolicMotion,

I have taken several dna tests. Most of my ancestors were Scottish and Irish. I am not German at all. By dna I am mostly Scottish and Irish. I also have an Irish residency card, and have spent time in both Ireland and Scotland.

ParabolicMotion,

I have already been through college and the next step for me would be to earn a Ph.D. There aren’t many scholarship opportunities for that. There are many opportunities for people who are beginning college for the first time and earning a bachelor’s degree. I was informed that a person cannot return to earn a second bachelor’s degree to broaden their job opportunities. If you don’t double major, then you can’t return to earn a second bachelor’s. So, if I am now more interested in the medical field, then I cannot return to earn a B.S. to nursing and climb the academic ladder again, from there. I might be able to take courses as a returning alumni and use that to knock out the pre-requisites for programs after that, but I don’t know how that is viewed by the professionals in the medical field.

ParabolicMotion,

I can’t post about it without the usual crowd stalking my account to downvote me, or urging the mods to remove it all, so they can help conceal child abuse. If anyone cares, it involved an eight year old me, being forced to help dig a hole and bury an older female relative to help conceal a murder. A local gang wants to prevent me from snitching, because other women started using her identity, since there wasn’t a death certificate. Having law enforcement dig her up would ruin their comfortable lifestyles, since they have used her identity to make money. Another group financially benefited when they married one of those women. Unearthing the body and having it identified would put a lot of people in their 40’s in jail over fraud that is connected to the case. So, I’m supposed to shut up about it.

Does anyone on Lemmy have access to cadaver dogs?

I know it’s a strange question, and I’m sure it would be removed from Ask Lemmy, or other parts of Lemmy. I have this situation where one of my relatives killed another relative in 1990, and buried her body on the property without law enforcement ever knowing. He also buried another relative who was killed (by a different...

ParabolicMotion,

I have filed a report with local law enforcement. I also filed a federal tip online when the local law enforcement did not respond. I’m not lying. I’ll pay someone to bring cadaver dogs out here. I’m not blowing smoke up anyone here. I want to know why people like you immediately attack all of my posts regarding this situation, instead of saying that it should be investigated. Why not be in favor of searching for proof of an event occurring, instead of immediately denying it? If you thought the Earth was flat, and thought people who believed it was round were crazy, would you just keep denying their claims, or would you want to be provided with evidence? If you think I’m wrong, why are you so against the idea of proving that to be true? If cadaver dogs were walked around the property, and nothing caused a reaction from them, wouldn’t that be a feather in your cap? Why are you against investigating claims when it involves murders that are decades old?

ParabolicMotion,

Really? Because your comments sound like a frantic person shouting at someone to shut up. You don’t sound like you’re very mature and even tempered.

ParabolicMotion, (edited )

No one has ever told me that. No one says those things in response to posts I create about other topics, either. I only receive those comments with regard to this particular family issue. To me it comes across as, “be quiet, or we’ll frame you as crazy”. I was in honors English courses, AP English courses, and college writing courses. No one ever complained about my style of writing. I took the SAT, GRE, and ASVAB with my current writing style. I passed all of those exams. No one complained about my writing.

I think you’re only complaining because the content makes you uncomfortable. I don’t know why it would, unless you happened to be involved in the family issue, or directly effected by it.

ParabolicMotion, (edited )

Phrasing aside, do you happen to know anyone with connections to cadaver dog rentals?

Also, the sidebar of this sub says that I am more than welcome to share without restrictions to writing style. Read the first rule of the sub.

ParabolicMotion,

As someone who is white, but 0% German, I wonder how things would be if I traveled to Germany and spent some time living in that country. I read another article on Lemmy that said Germans were in a bar, chanting “Germany for the Germans. Foreigners out.” I’ve been called “Nazi” plenty of times on Lemmy because people have disagreed with my views on things like the war in Gaza. I wonder if Germans would think I was just another German there, or if they’d want me to leave.

ParabolicMotion,

I think the sidebar makes it clear that people are free to express anything they choose as long as it isn’t racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. If you don’t like my posts, you don’t need to read them. You’re not a captive audience and no one is forcing you to read their posts on this site. I didn’t care for the RedPill on Reddit, but I didn’t go to it and attack their posts.

ParabolicMotion,

Thanks. I’ll block you, too.

ParabolicMotion,

Thank you, but I doubt it will become better. I wasn’t born a boy, and if I were, I would have been raised by my biological parents. I’m sure that’s the reason they had relatives raise me. The mom that raised me told me several times as a child that my dad didn’t like me because he was trying for a boy and was really disappointed when I was born.

ParabolicMotion, (edited )

Like how this oaf I’m forced to call “Dad” has relatives who look nearly identical to him and they’re all O+. His mom was basically a perpetual sow for some O+ man who just used her to copy his face several times. None of the oafs look like the man I was raised to call my grandfather. I feel bad for people that were around them during the 1960’s, because they were probably committing a bunch of crimes and getting away with it because they all look alike. They’ll talk about themselves to others as if they are perfect people, but I know exactly where the bodies are buried around here. One of them punched one of my female relatives in the face and she is now buried out here. One of them repeatedly punched me when I was a child, and my other relative saw it happen. She was too afraid to tell law enforcement. She told me not to tell anyone. They get away with things like that. So here are these oafs that have forced me to call them “Dad” while they abuse me, and I don’t even look like them! I think my biological dad just dumped me off onto a blood gang of distant relatives in the ‘80’s because he didn’t get the son he was hoping to have when I was born.

Blood gangs are nothing new. The feds have been documenting blood gangs in America since the 1950’s, maybe earlier. Mexico knows all about blood gangs. The problem is even worse there. Any time I’d complain to my friends, some of them would say, “well, at least you aren’t Mexican. It’s ten times worse for them.”

ParabolicMotion,

Actually, I’m doing very well. I really wish I could prove everything to doubters like you. Unfortunately, when law enforcement decides to take cadaver dogs to my “dad’s” house, people like you will have probably moved on from Lemmy, or will have long forgotten your comments, denying that I was ever abused by my “dad”. I’ll be sure to take video of law enforcement combing the land around my “dad’s” house, if they ever do decide to investigate the report that I filed. How are you going to insinuate that I’m crazy when two bodies are unearthed to prove the things I have said about my “dad” are true? Oh, and if law enforcement pulls dna from him after that, and it doesn’t match me as an immediate family member, will you be so kind as to retract your comment?

ParabolicMotion,

He’ll be there to support you all as you complain about the size of the snack foods you’re eating as you watch those shows. He really has everyone’s best interests in mind\s.

ParabolicMotion,

Just boycott fast food. I thought about doing that when I was in Ireland. McDonald’s is more expensive there. There is no value menu. A small coffee frap will cost you about €6, and food prices are high, too. Unless they are paying your income, or have directly sponsored something that benefits you, I wouldn’t put money into it. It’s just like Taco Bell. When I was unemployed I would go for their $1.09 bean and cheese burrito as a cheap lunch, but when I applied for a job, none of them would hire me. When I went in to ask for an application, the staff was all Latina women who looked me up and down and then laughed at me for asking for an application. I haven’t had Taco Bell since then. Don’t support the institutions that don’t support you, if you can help it. I know that’s tough to do.

ParabolicMotion,

Eh, not really, but it made me consider where I spend money. I wish there was a business I could patronize that would directly benefit every person who has ever helped me. I know that sound weird, but if I could buy groceries, or gasoline, and know that part of that money helped people in my life who directly helped me, I’d never shop anywhere else for those items.
