813 US billionaires control a record $5.7 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $3.7 trillion in wealth.

When ~800 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Capitalism, whether under Reaganomics or neoliberalism, regulated or unregulated, inevitably leads to extreme wealth concentration, social inequality, and the erosion of democratic institutions.

Social democracy still operates within the confines of a capitalist system, where wealth and power remain concentrated in the hands of a few. Reliance on taxation alone doesn't address the fundamental flaws of capitalism, such as the exploitation of labor and the commodification of resources.

I know state control isn't the solution. The solution is to pur control of society into the hands of the people instead of a bureaucratic middleman of authority.

I support voting, but it's black-and-white thinking to presume that not voting is equivalent to voting for fascism. Now, if someone refuses to vote and does nothing else, then that is stupid, but there are other ways for people to positively influence their community/country and counter fascism other than voting.

@xs4me2 @TheBestLeiya @rbreich
Yes, doing both would be optimal.

You're an anarchist, I presume. There's never going to be a party that you agree with, and it's the same with me. You essentially have two viable options that I know of. You could either vote for a party that most aligns with your core political values, or if you choose not to vote, you can advocate for and/or engage in grassroots organizing, direct action, and community building to challenge systemic injustices and create meaningful change from the ground up.

Workers are forced into wage slavery under capitalism, unable to escape the cycle of poverty.

One of the best things people can do to tackle this is to convince people to lose their trust in this current social/economic system and advocate for the creation of a new system (Libertarian Communism in my opinion) to replace it.

@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@antics @lawas @janisf @TessRants
Political theory is very important; it's what does and will motivate the actions of the people who actually want to create a better system to replace this one. Real-world action is obviously important, but a blueprint is necessary in order to succeed, and that blueprint is theory.

One way to convert our capitalist society into a communist society is by increasing the amount of workers' unions and workers' cooperatives to increase the amount of control workers have over their lives and society at large while simultaneously convincing workers of the goal of creating a communist society where they'd collectively have complete control over production and society. This will take a long time, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@janisf @antics @lawas @TessRants
Yeah. I'm not against voting for politicians in the interest of workers and workers' rights, I'm only against the mentality that voting alone will solve the working class's problems. Voting is a means to an end, the end being the abolition of capitalism and the construction of a communist society, which will ultimately rely on the efforts of the working class to construct this new society from the bottom up, and likely against the wishes of the capitalist state

There are no such things as good landlords or cops. People shouldn't exploit others by owning property or enforcing authority. Instead, we should strive for systems where resources are collectively managed and people are empowered to govern themselves.

Nomenklatura refers to a system of patronage and privilege in the Soviet Union and other authoritarian states, where key positions in government, industry, and other organizations were filled by loyal members of the Communist Party. These positions often came with perks and privileges. This is further proof that these countries were not communist.

The Soviet Union wasn't communist, it was an authoritarian regime that distorted the principles of true communism, which advocates for voluntary cooperation and the absence of hierarchy, in stark contrast to the oppressive centralized control seen in the Soviet system.

I haven't based a single thing on idealism or "vibes". I examined the historical events and inferred a logical conclusion based on the facts, and the facts are that ideological unity was indeed lacking and necessary among the Spanish Revolutionaries, but nothing suggests that their unity had to be based on hierarchy and centralized planning, nor does anything suggest that the CNT-FIA's methods of the organization were inferior simply because they lost because other traditionally...

I never said ideas create reality, however, I do believe that ideas can shape reality through the actions of those who hold those ideas, and I completely agree with the concept of unity through organization, again, never stating the contrary.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@Cowbee
Hierarchy is a bad thing as it perpetuates inequality and oppression by allowing certain people to have more power than others. Not only would a system where power is decentralized be better in terms of eliminating inequality and oppression, but such a system would be more in line with communism's goal of creating a classless society.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@Cowbee
Hierarchy is the accumulation of power in the hands of a select minority of people. Even if there are safeguards to prevent too much power going to the top there will still always be an accumulation of power at the top of the hierarchy, thereby creating an inequality of power amongst the population. The only way to not have inequality of any kind is to get rid of hierarchy.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@Cowbee
I'm not able to take anything you say seriously. First, you claim that individuals having authority over others isn't an accumulation of power even though a person with authority would have to have power over others to have authority over them, and then you claim that communism is compatible with inequality, which is the most absurd thing I've ever heard a communist claim. You sound like a revisionist.
