Unions can be democratic, but only if they're structured democratically. Make sure that your union is truly democratic because it's very easy for capitalists, bosses, or would-be authoritarians to high-jack unions for their purposes that most likely won't align with the interest of the workers. Direct Democracy is the way to organize unions.

What do you think "participate" means? Participating in a movement doesn't just mean going to protest or marching. A person can help in various ways if they're disabled without even leaving their home. They can spread the word about the movement online, financially support the movement, or convince their friends and family to support the movement. Every person, disabled or otherwise, is capable of participating, and no one has to (or in my opinion should ever) be neutral.

If you haven't been called a communist, a dirty commie, or a red then you haven't made any impact. Don't be ashamed of being called a communist, wear it as a title of honor!

It's so tragically obvious that is nothing but of another ilk. Underlying is the same greed for money, land and power that signifies .

In the end, when all is said and done this is what it is. Fascism donning its favourite costume of and religious zealotry.

Pointing that out is NOT antisemitism. Get it into your bloody heads.

Are you suggesting that anti-zionism (opposition to the political ideology of Zionism, which advocates for the establishment and support of a Jewish state in the land of Israel) is the same as antisemitism (prejudice, discrimination, or hostility directed against Jewish people based on their ethnicity or religion), and if so, how did you come to that conclusion?

Radical_EgoCom,

@tqwhite @Bron1954 @coffeepine
The schism started when Zionists tried to establish a government in a land where there was already an established government. It seems like the hostility came from Palestinians not wanting a government to be imposed on them, which is understandable.

There were established governments and communities in the region before the establishment of the modern state of Israel by Zionist leaders in 1948. The area known as Palestine was under Ottoman rule for centuries until the end of World War I, when it came under British control as a League of Nations mandate. During this time, various communities, including Palestinian Arabs, Jews, and others, inhabited the region. The establishment of the state of Israel in...

Well of course they didn't like a bunch of people coming onto their land and establishing a government without their consent. People generally don't like imperialism when they're the victims of it. And it being legal doesn't equate with it being right. Something can be legal and wrong.

There were other places that Zionist Jews could have considered as potential destinations besides the Middle East. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Zionist movement explored various options for establishing a Jewish homeland, including locations in Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Some of the proposed alternatives to Palestine included regions in East Africa, such as Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. The British government even offered the...

Additionally, there were efforts to establish Jewish agricultural colonies in places like Argentina, Brazil, and North America. However, the idea of returning to the historical land of Israel held deep religious and cultural significance for many Zionist Jews, leading to the eventual focus on Palestine as the...

Deciding to establish a government in a location where there are existing communities against the wishes of those communities all because a religious holy book says so isn't valid in my opinion, no more valid as when the Americans did a similar thing during Manifest Destiny.

I don't advocate for a government takeover of the means of production. I'm a Libertarian Communist, and I believe that the means of production should be directly managed and controlled by the workers themselves through a system of direct democracy and decentralized, horizontal management.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@asbestos
Instead of a government with a hierarchy and coercive institutions, there would be one or more likely several non-hierarchical, decentralized organizations dedicated to collectivizing the means of production and resources into the hands of the workers. And yes, I do see this as a long-term development.

Yes, but it's not an alternative that I agree with.

Radical_EgoCom,

I would prefer a Libertarian Communist system where power is decentralized, resources are collectively owned, and individuals have the freedom to pursue their passions without exploitation or oppression.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
Libertarian Communism is possible now, even without labor being replaced with automation because a fundamental restructuring of society's economic and political systems can empower people to collectively manage resources and distribute wealth fairly.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
Wealth is not distributed fairly now. The top 1% owns more wealth than the bottom ≈40% of people, and you're severely downplaying the situation of there only being a few ultra-rich people. That's precisely the problem, that there are a few people in the world that own all of the means of production and the workers own none of it.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
If you've bought into the lie that poor people can become rich if they just work hard enough for capitalists then you've fallen for one of the biggest scams in history. Poor people very rarely become rich through their labor, and most of them die in the same poverty they were born in.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
Be careful not to commit an anecdotal fallacy by concluding the question of whether poor people actually can become rich through their hard work from your limited personal experiences instead of considering the broader, statistically significant data on the topic.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
The logical issue here is that you're conflating individual wealth with overall economic inequality. In some cases, individuals with moderate wealth may technically be part of the wealthiest percentile, but that doesn't negate the significant disparities in wealth and power between them and the rest of society. Comparing their lifestyle to that of well-paid workers overlooks the broader structural inequalities present in the distribution of wealth and resources.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
Well, regardless of the outcome of your specific circumstance, the mere wealth disparity makes the situation not fair, and more importantly when looking at this situation on a broader societal scale, seeing how most poor kids aren't able to go to the same schools as rich kids and how the wealthy, due to their wealth, have far more connections to attain better jobs than the poor, you start to see the real problem with the way things are currently.

Radical_EgoCom,
@Radical_EgoCom@mastodon.social avatar

@JamesTown_
I didn't say anything about killing anyone for starting a business, nor did I suggest that people be stopped in any way from starting businesses. Regarding businesses, I think that they should be managed and controlled by the workers instead of by one person or a small group of people. Paying taxes isn't enough. The means of production needs to be put into the hands of the workers, the people who do all of the work.
