@Radical_EgoCom
I agree. But I'm also compelled to to point out Bell Laboratories as a notable exception. If for no other reason than that type of institution is almost unheard of in today's hedge fund/private equity economy. Back in the day They did tons of ground breaking research. Much of which was pure science, not just a product specific thing that could be brought to market in 18 months. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_Labs
I'm not a fan of the Soviet Union, but whether you like the country or not, it is indisputably, irrefutably, and incontrovertibly a fact that the Soviet Union won the space race.
@nus
The story of Laika is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made in the name of progress and the often inhumane methods used by state powers like the Soviet Union. Scientific and societal advancements should never comes at the cost of ethical considerations and humane treatment of human and non-human individuals. #Science#Veganism
This uninformed, ignorant, and misguided individual known as @Teop_Versant Thinks that many homeless people choose to be homeless, and thus, giving them houses isn't warranted. So stupid. https://mastodon.social/
@Radical_EgoCom My oldest brother did. He does not like to take orders, from anybody. Momma messed him up. Also, many people choose homelessness because they are embarrassed by mental disease. Like the person voted most likely to succeed, but ended-up living on the street. The topic is to vast to think housing will cover it all.
@Radical_EgoCom 380 kb -> 90 kb and cropped a bit. In the age of people scrolling media with phones, you dont want useless margins and you want them centered.
> "In American mythology, people are rich because of "hard work" yet nobody can explain why those who do all the actual work have no money."
@bhasic@Radical_EgoCom the scripted reply to this is "some people work smarter, not harder." But then you have to ask, is a CEO really 1000 times smarter than one of his employees, or is it just that how "smart" or "intelligent" a person is is defined by the amount of money they have?
@nickmatavka@PadreWil@rbreich
What is your problem? I haven't done anything to you. Just because I'm a communist (not a Marxist) doesn't give you the right to speak that way to me.
1/6 Communism, in its purest form, is a classless, stateless society where the means of production are communally owned, and all people have equal access to resources. Marx and Engels envisioned this as the final stage of historical development, following capitalism and socialism. In a true communist society, the state would "wither away" because it would no longer be needed to mediate class conflicts or manage economic resources.
@CWilbur
1/4 I disagree with this on several grounds:
The notion that the id inherently drives people to "stomp on everyone else" is a product of capitalist ideology, not an absolute truth. Competitive, selfish behavior is not an innate human characteristic; it's a consequence of living in a capitalist society that incentivizes and rewards such behavior. In a society organized around mutual aid and cooperation, people would act differently.
@Radical_EgoCom I Hear you. But remember, we created these systems out of nothing. Why didn't your ideal system evolve rather than this capitalistic nightmare? Media of exchange has evolved separately in dozens of cultures. Once that happens, it's only a matter of time before some folks realize the exchange media are assets in and of themselves and start accumulating it. Once that happens can class structure be far behind? We need a plan for ensuring that doesn't happen.
Humans are not inherently evil or corrupt by nature, but even if they were, capitalism is the worst system possible as it enables and promotes these aspects. #anticapitalism#capitalism
Yup #capitalism will encourage people to let a 70+ yr old #disabled, #displaced woman and her 40 yr disabled daughter and an innocent #rabbit all survivors of #trauma to slowly die of heat and starvation
While everyone pats their backs for recycling or watching some politically charged #propaganda on #netflix or some shit
How much are those BS streaming TV and Movie shits nowadays?
More than enough to monthly help people in need instead and watch something for free that would support a small creator - wait they'd also rather pay #Google and watch some asshole like #MrBeast instead of an actual small creator
They'd all rather some machine tell them what to feed their minds
Killing the bourgeoisie will not help achieve communism. Resorting to executing the rich only perpetuates a cycle of violence and hinders the possibility of creating a truly just and equitable society. Instead, the focus should be on systemic change and addressing economic inequalities instead of targeting specific groups for destruction.
Welcome, everyone! Have questions about communism? This is the place to ask! Whether you're curious, skeptical, or passionate about the topic, let's engage in open, respectful debate and discussion. Let's explore the principles, history, and implications of communism together. Your questions drive the conversation, so fire away!
@Radical_EgoCom Unless you can find a PT job that actually pays the bills and you have enough time on the side to train for another job. This is why I insisted my kid get a free CNA certification (could have been welding or coding) before heading off to college.
I'm not sure it's a wage issue so much as it is a housing-cost issue. Capitalism is supposed to be regulated so that those numbers realistically work. Reagan broke it.
@janisf@antics@lawas@TessRants
Yeah. I'm not against voting for politicians in the interest of workers and workers' rights, I'm only against the mentality that voting alone will solve the working class's problems. Voting is a means to an end, the end being the abolition of capitalism and the construction of a communist society, which will ultimately rely on the efforts of the working class to construct this new society from the bottom up, and likely against the wishes of the capitalist state
There are no such things as good landlords or cops. People shouldn't exploit others by owning property or enforcing authority. Instead, we should strive for systems where resources are collectively managed and people are empowered to govern themselves. https://youtu.be/J6v0-EUecxk?si=iMeXBL0qs40KKqf1
