Its because they’re fucken addicted to dark patterns. I want to set firefox as the default. That means any file that edge opens I want Firefox to now open. Except, Microsoft doesn’t do that when you set a different browser as the default. I’d rather it change everything and then I have to change the PDF viewer manually, than have to change six or seven file types manually each time. Thus wouldn’t be an issue if I wasn’t working at my first corporate job, if my manager gave a shit to do anything, and if my company would stop changing everything and breaking my images every other week.
The metric is more money for the shareholders at all costs, right now. Don’t join corporations kids, start worker coops and eat the system from the inside out.
Why are you getting down voted? Its true. I have never worked with or for someone who is even moderately wealthy that isn’t an asshole. Its like a requirement to be rich.

I paid 1000 dollars for an emergency room visit when I was incapacitated by a muscle in my back. Next day, went to the doctor, still had to pay another 150 dollars. He put his hands on my back like he was doing some sort of Vulcan technique. My back was never fixed and I’m afraid to go back and pay more cause I have nothing. I’m on the state plan. It started at 30 bucks a month two years ago, now its 139 bucks a month. Please, shut the fuck up. We need to abolish this system and actually have social programs for this.
Wouldn’t actual data privacy laws stop this all the same? I can’t help but feel this weird song and dance avoiding the privacy argument exists so US companies don’t get in the crossfire for doing the same shit with your data.
