Pike, rolling around the Enterprise

They should have let him remain captain for a while.

Beep beep

Course set, sir.

Beep

Aye, captain, warp factor four.

Beep

Shields up, sir.

Limonene,

My headcanon is that Number One is the in-universe voice actor for ship computers in Starfleet. Once they made the computer model of her voice, it remained in use all the way to the TNG era.

I doubt Lwaxana Troi would have been interested in sitting still for a hundred hours of voice recording.

I don’t know, would they make an augmented human, even one with special dispensation to be in Starfleet, the official computer voice?

usernamefactory,

At some point her face starts showing up on recruitment posters, so maybe? On the other hand, we only saw a poster like that 100 years after her time, so maybe not.

Alternatively, she leant her voice specifically to the Enterprise computer, as seen in TOS. Then years later, when it was decided to standardize voices across the fleet, they just went with what was used on the Enterprise. Because the Enterprise always seems to be the favourite of the fleet.

They wouldn't need hundreds of hours of voice recordings to replicate somebody's voice in the 24th century. We don't even really need that today.

Not even one hour. Not even one minute. Seconds.

nokturne213,

I did not realize Han Solo made an appearance in Star Trek.

He shot first … into the transport buffer

Yeah there’s a whole episode about him where he helps two young lovers.

nokturne213,

Are they siblings?

I know, right? That would be outrageous.

The weirdest part is that Nurse Chapel, Lwaxana Troi and the Enterprise-D computer all sound like a less robotic version of the 1701 computer!
