This "recall" is such a bad idea.

It's so, so very bad that I'm wondering if perhaps, maybe, possibly this has already been happening and it's a scramble now to legitimise it as "we were developing a new product" before someone blew a whistle and let us all know that everything we do has been screenshotted for some time.

That's a conspiracy theory by the way, and not true as far as I know. My brain occasionally goes off on one and comes up with these wild, wild ideas.

I see "workingpeeple" is back in the speeches. Need to learn to say "people", just "people". Some are working others too young, too old, between jobs, ill, moving, changing career or busy with other issues one way another. They exist too and shouldn't be excluded from any politician's election speech.

Work is not people. People are not work. No matter how often you try to jam them together verbally and conceptually, they are different things and will remain different things forever.

I prefer Mastodon but the "explore" page is just the same old people pushing the same old lines every day, it seems to be sort of shrinking? Is that just me though. No idea, but I find myself with that "oh yeah them again" scroll scroll thing going on.

Windows11 has decided FOR me that it's time I get a new printer by not recognising my admittedly not up to date printer. I don't think they should decide that, nor waste my time by me hunting for a driver on the increasingly unreliable web. Assuming Windows 11 even "allows" me to install such a thing.

It runs fine, this old printer off an equally ancient eee. One flash drive to transfer the file and we're done.

The people who lost grandparents and parents in the pandemic are expected to keep their grief private and to themselves, but like all the big scars this will sit. And before anyone starts, | also worry about all the other horrible things going on.

Imagine opening your window and not hearing a car. Or going out for a walk and not hearing a car. Or sitting in a restaurant and not hearing a car. Or basically doing anything and not hearing a freaking car.

I'm being encouraged to sit and draw in a garden. This is probably the closest I get to heaven on the earthly plane btw.

We dried and pickled and made jam to get past the dry season mind you, as people in Europe do before winter. Either way the equinox was pretty much the signal for a change. Eggs seems more a European thing, not surprising. It wasn't when we got loads of eggs, that would be the other equinox.

Games have had ai for absolute yonks, it's an art to make it work too. But ours isn't chatbots it's fightbots - bosses, npcs companions, mobs, critters. Last thing you need while gaming is some ai yakking in your chat, so that wasn't going to be a go. Why I'd want any ai yakking in my ear about more important things, well no, actually.

How do you ward off cactus demons anyway. I'll keep the peel to hand. As a last resort I can try throwing bits of peel at anything I deem unusual. That's my plan anyway.

Still what the hey, you only live once. I'll give it a couple of days to go just past ripe, try it and buy a lottery ticket for the supposed good luck. Most of the evil in this world is very human, and it doesn't say anything about warding against that, so I'm not expecting much on the warding side of things.
But I am wary of ingesting cacti, generally, so I'll be watching out for... you know... demons and things.

Do you know what I never see on here (and never miss)
Raging debate about some BBC program.
What a relief that is!

Sky News doesn't have much news on it does it. It's all talking heads, Westminster gossip, London culture (what's left of it) and football. You'd never know anything else happens in the world.

Amazon can take it's "prove you're human" letter recognition thing and stick it in a very prime location.

I don't have time for this bollox.

Unlike Amazon's automated systems I don't have infinite time and I'm not going to spend any of my time at all playing silly games with something which, fundamentally, wants my money.
No wonder Bezos is selling shares.

In the back streets of Hong Kong, amongst the street stalls, the scent of charred garlic was never far away.
I still char garlic - it's not to everyone's taste, I know, but I miss the flavour if it's not there in some dishes. And the smell brings back some nice memories.

I am very grateful that I do not have to go out and navigate icy pavements today. Soup is warming.

Anyway for some unreason my feet aren't cold but tonight the rest of me totally is, head to foot, begun to shiver. So I'm off to bed.
As in cheating the energy companies from another few hours of revenue via mountains of fluff. Yblankets.
Checking out the little foot sleeping bags is obviously the task for another day.

I''m not huge fan of dogs on extendable strings, but I discovered you can run a tight circle around the owner who thinks the footpath is for them and ranging dog. So I get some fun out of not being old lady at all and tangling the overlong leash around their legs - that anyway.

One weird thing about 2023 is the whole "it's not working, let's do it even more" mindset. You can just about point at anything that's clearly failing down - way past crumbling and on the way to slime and the reasoning is "ohh must be because we didn't do it enough. Let's do the same thing but harder and if possible stupider"

We'd be way better off if we dropped that in favour of "if it's not working, fix it or ditch it, 3 tries and its out the window, try something else" or something like that

The frost on the roofs tells it's own story. The school, shopping centre, doctor, social work building, college all have roofs free of frost or snow.
Amongst the homes though, it's only here and there a roof is clear, where someone can afford the heating.

On the bright side I may be about to start Pico 8 adventures. Such are modern gadgets that I only need to travel when I need to travel, or for fun in which case I prefer slow travel which is so old fashioned it's from centuries ago. On foot, public transport for further afield, sail. Weather a factor and avoiding fleecing, that's a factor too.

Woh. Just ate an unexpectedly magnificent fragment of cheese. Had to rush to the fridge to find out what I'd absentmindedly picked as part of the late night snack plate.
It's Compte, unfortunately from Morrison's posh range so will be an occasional treat.
Still a lovely surprise though.
