For the same reason why very few companies are worker owned co-ops: people suck and capitalism doubly so. That’s why we very rarely can have nice things.
In the case of HOAs, the bad ones (which are the vast majority of them) exist to extract profit (in the form of increasing property values, fining anyone who doesn’t follow their petty rules, and sometimes even take someone’s home for breaking the aforementioned rules) and exert as much control over people as possible.
In the US at least, laws regarding HOAs are a grotesque combination of under-regulation and regulations specifically crafted to FACILITATE abuse rather than discourage it.
The fact that the “Troubled Teen Industry” still exists at all is a fucking outrage! The entire concept of these torture farms is inherently abusive and traumatic towards the teens and the world has known for decades!
I’m guessing there’s some politicians with full campaign coffers 🤬
I can’t see any Dems voting for the guy who fucked Biden’s agenda
Really? Because all of the people I’ve ever seen defending him were Democrats claiming that he was the least awful senator West Virginia would ever vote for.
Hell, even Biden himself gave Manchin the pen used to sign what was left of one of the bills after he’d hollowed out the carcass!
Yeah, because it’s all just a binary were people vote by party only!
West Virginia is an extremely poor state, has the worst health of any state, is generally pretty pro-union and loves a political dynasty.
Joe Manchin is the nephew of a prominent WV politician, in favor of the ACA and pretty good at pretending to care about miners. THAT’S why he kept winning in a supposedly deep red state.
If we find a good progressive candidate who ACTUALLY cares about poor people and labor rights, is in favor of Medicare for All, and has a relative who used to be State Treasurer or something, that candidate would be able to win in West Virginia WITHOUT being a corrupt conservative ass.
Only when Trump is the defendant would anyone consider penalizing over a dozen violations that are each individually bad enough to get normal people jailed for contempt of court “rash”.
Enough with the absurd levels of overcautiousness at the expense of seeking anything that even remotely resembles justice already!
Which is why I said in its current form, not so much
The current form isn’t even conservatism, it’s just full blown fascism.
Having a dissenting voice can at times help ensure whether or not you’re on the right track.
True in principle, but not when that dissenting voice drags you further in the wrong direction you were already heading, as is the case in a to party system where both parties are right of center and the one closest to the center is pathologically obsessed with compromise for the sake of compromise and the other one is ideologically opposed to ever compromising.
That’s why I said conceptually it’s good, or at least it can be.
I still disagree. The concept of an opposition party is good. The concept of a center right to right wing led party having an opposition party to the right and none to the left isn’t.
If I don’t put on a decent to good movie I’ve already seen several times AND brown noise (not to be confused with the theorized Brown Note), odds are I don’t fall asleep for several hours if at all.
Sleep advice and other such “lifehacks” are seldom very ADHD-friendly and can be borderline ableist at times.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition … There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
Yeah, being annoyed by one stupid small thing doesn’t mean being annoyed by ALL stupid small things.
Humans tend to like and dislike specific things for their own reasons and none.
I’ve got news for you: trying to police what people are allowed to be annoyed about doesn’t do anything except give them one more thing to be annoyed about, namely a condescending asshole trying to cluelessly “educate” them.
Maybe try to find something nice to do with your time instead.
Bullshit. I’ve been clear from the start that your input isn’t helpful or welcome.
I used to get hung up on stuff and it sucks
You still get hung up on stuff. For example, you’re currently hung up on me having the audacity to be annoyed by something without presenting you with a reason you think is good enough.
There’s a million better ways to spend your time
I don’t actually tend to spend a lot of time on it. I’ve spent more time being annoyed by your annoyance gatekeeping today than I’ve spent being annoyed about presidential numbering the last two or three months.
Enjoy your annoyance since that’s clearly what you’re into.
Yeah, it can’t be that you’re wrong and insufferably smug about it, it HAS to be that I just love being annoyed.
