@aaron_pearce This is exactly what I do when traveling to conferences :) Each time I've found it to be worth it for the reduction in stress due to airline non-information or misinformation.
It is the time of the year that I start compiling my list of HomeKit feature requests that will be promptly be ignored by the team at Apple. Such a good use of my time.
@aaron_pearce I would download All Counties or Regions (Multiple Files) and focus on one country (in my case the US). Each line of the report tells you which product it is.
Given an existing app with a decent amount of unsubscribed users, what would be the best way to gate more features without annoying those existing ones? Although the existing users are the ones I want to pay…
@aaron_pearce@jonathanreed It's kind of a pain and maybe not worth the legacy cruft, but you can also consider making a special offer paywall specific to the use of a feature you are taking away. "Feature X is now part of App Pro, upgrade now for 50% off” type thing.
@agiletortoise@jonathanreed The legacy tracking is a real pain to do well is the issue. I may implement an discounted paywall if I can work out how to do it cleanly.
So the Matter 1.3 specification is out, yet no major platform supports 1.2 as of yet. Having Matter as an industry standard falls down fast if no platform actually supports it in a timely manner.
@wimleers I think there is a private specification repo based on links shared in that one, and that is where a lot of discussions take place. Not fully open source in my opinion.
@viticci just saw the HomeKit hardware article on MacStories. Good read!
One note, the HomeKit API actually does support pan and tilt cameras officially. But manufacturers don’t support it as Apple Home doesn’t support it. And no third party supports it as no camera support it. 😂
@MuseumShuffle I think for standard paywalls that their system would work great. If I didn't have the future plans that I do have, I would have just used theirs. I did test it out early on and it was really nice to use.
