Pages release notes say "Press and hold the Command key to select noncontiguous words, sentences, or paragraphs”.
That's an original 1984 Macintosh feature.

Some bean counter at Amazon has optimized the inventory at Whole Foods and they keep disappointing me by not having basic produce or meats on hand. Even across multiple locations.

But sure, that bean counter probably got their promotion so it’s worth it.

Dear Python team: why do all my machines have four or so versions of Python installed? So much bloat.

Why aren't you making things backward compatible enough or pick behaviors based on argv[0] or a flag?

My proxmox box has spontaneously rebooted a few times since upgrading to 8.2.2. Nothing in the logs, so I just had to go through a very obtuse dance with kernel command line arguments to get it to log out to BMC SOL which I'm capturing in a tmux session on a stable box, all in hopes of seeing why Linux is panicking now when it didn't before.

Apple gets this right -- panic logs are written to a special section of flash and recovered on the next boot and the user is offered to report it.

Once again, FedEx Ground just changed a delivery date/time and pretended that was always the scheduled time. When they do deliver, they don't even ring the doorbell.

FedEx needs to rethink this product because it reduces my opinion of their excellent overnight service.

And revamp Alcatraz just to hold him and the rest of his crime family associates?

My teenage son just came home with this brand new purchase. I can’t fathom what tapes he even plans to listen to; we got rid of all but a couple of memento mixtapes.

My FreeBSD install of Tautulli self-updated and broke. Updating to python311 seems to clear the problem.

I wish that picking versions were somehow easier than editing a port makefile or manually changing symlinks. Like a config-it-for-me script or something.

Really could do without the ads for GitHub Copilot on every code page on GitHub and in the Welcome window in Visual Studio Code.

I won't ever use it so long as it is trained on stolen code.

By popping up crap like "Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube” you're guaranteeing to piss me off and ensuring that I will never subscribe. I’ll run even more powerful ad blockers until there's an ad blocker so big it'll destroy the world.

Bought a grill replacement part from Amazon. Advertised as 16 gauge (1.6mm). Actual item measures 20 gauge (0.9mm).

Just disrespectful of everybody's time to have to return this fraudulent item.

In the event that a court has an argument before them that it isn’t possible for the US Secret Service to perform protection duties to ex-President Trump in a prison context, please be reminded that Alcatraz is still a federal facility capable of such special duties and is entirely appropriate and deserved for such a guest.

The Vanity Fair article says that Mariani 1 is where the iPhone and iPod were invented. Not true for either.

iPhone happened in Infinite Loop 2.
iPod happened in Valley Green 6.

Xcode folks: if a build phase emits a file into $DERIVED_FILES_DIR, how can one properly refer to that file for a later copy bundle resources phase? None the sourceTree paths correspond to that.

Am I stuck using a build rule to pickup that file and copy it with a blob of custom script?

I can't be the only one that's tried this.

No FedEx, my package is not scheduled for delivery tomorrow. You just changed it to tomorrow last night when you realized it wasn’t going to get here on time today. Gaslighting is the worst form of customer service.

@gruber And yet highly-rated Sony PlayStation-exclusive baseball game “The Show” is now available on Xbox.

Seems like Microsoft did their usual closed door shenangians and got MLB to demand Sony do so.

Phil's gonna keep riding Xbox down to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Ordered an iced tea from a coffee shop here at the mall. $4.80. I click 15% tip. Wait 5 minutes, guy puts up a hot tea. I say “this is supposed to be iced.” He retorts “we don’t sell iced tea here.” (Their menu is full of iced coffee drinks.)

How do I untip him?

The huge banner at the top of the Trailers app tells you to go to the TV app. It does nothing when clicked. I don't see any section for Theatrical movie trailers in the TV app. What I see is A FUCKTON OF SPORTS BULLSHIT THAT I NEVER WANT TO SEE.

Anybody know who at Apple still has enough braincells to run the company?

I don't use my iCloud address. A lot of idiots mistake it for theirs.

Bank of America did not validate the email address before associating it with another person's bank account. I regularly get private banking emails for that person. I've tried over the last two years to contact BoA Customer Service, Fraud, and the suggested abuse@ email address. I've CCed various managers that work in IT there. At this point I can't tell if it's incompetence or malice that they can't stop emailing me.

Fucking typical. All the FB/Messenger/Instagram apps now have a “Meta AI” feature front and center, with a distracting animated logo.

I asked it how to disable it and it hallucinated an UX workflow that doesn’t exist. It also said that Meta employees are“just doing their jobs.”

Why do I get address completion using Maps data in Calendar, but not in Contacts? Stuff like ZIP+4 lookup should be automagical.
