Sad though this is, I can’t help wondering why on earth people are visiting as tourists. Is it because it’s edgy? They want to boast to their friends? Now they are dead, someone has to sort out all the issues their murders have caused, and their families and friends are mourning their loss. All for a stamp in a passport.

That is good news.

Cynical me says there’s some sort of catch though. They are commiting themselves to sell fewer phones. How else are they going to make their money?

Then again perhaps they are accepting they can’t keep going on as they have been.

Not too shabby a result. Meanwhile back at the food bank…

Interesting to note Andy Serkis is making a new LOTR film as well.

There is already a film called The Hunt For Gollum though. An amateur production made on a shoestring budget a few years ago. It’s surprisingly good.

I don’t doubt that he’s sincere, but just because he’s Nelson Mandela’s grandson doesn’t make him that different from other people. I mean Winnie Mandela turned out to be a lovely person didn’t she?

Or is it the association with ‘that’ name grants him the special status? Would people be agreeing with him or taking notice if he said the opposite?

Why on earth would they need Chinese policemen? Is there a problem with Chinese tourists or a disproportionate number of Chinese immigrants that would require such a presence? Sounds like they are looking for tips on how to keep tabs on people. With all the downsides that will generate.

baggins,
@baggins@beehaw.org avatar

Yeah, that shouldn’t be a thing. Ought to be left to the host nation. We don’t want Chinese law in Europe - or anywhere else for that matter.

I read that in the voice of Jackie Chiles. Along with ‘Yet another of my embarrassing architectural failures’.

George Galloway is only interested in himself. When this current fad gets flushed down the toilet, he’ll find another bandwagon to jump on.

Galloway's Workers Party to stand candidates everywhere in challenge to Labour (morningstaronline.co.uk)

“Unveiling the largest left-of-Labour electoral challenge in history, Mr Galloway, who returned to the Commons in the Rochdale by-election in February, said the party was speaking to three Labour MPs about their possible defection.”...

The only thing that George Galloway is concerned with is his self promotion.

I’m on the insider build and haven’t seen any of this. If I do then I’m off. That’s a red line as far as I’m concerned.

I’ll load up EndeavourOS (it’s already on my laptop) and they can shove it. Pity as it was genuinely getting good. So many things that worked seamlessly and effortlessly compared to some of the Linux stuff.

But I’ll not have ads in my OS.

Yes and it was a pile of steaming hotspur.

Impressions after a week using KDE Neon: Amazing

It's been fairly stable as I would expect from an LTS. There's LOT of hiccups with whatever is happening in the tray area (power and battery sometimes doesn't work).

Language is pretty screwed up. I speak both English/Spanish in a Spanish location. Installer chooses half spanish and english in the /etc/locale, and has issues changing it in the frontend.

Overall nothing I can't fix as I put stability overall

Had issues with it. I seem to remember it not waking from sleep or similar.

I’m sticking with EndeavourOS and Plasma ;-)

I wonder if we could send him there. If it’s as great as he says, he might even stay.

Yes. My wife is almost certainly eligible for PIP. The process is so complex and intrusive that she gave up and didn’t bother pushing it.

A work colleague whose wife is quite severely disabled claimed but was rejected. He appealed and was awarded the highest rate.

I’m trying to convince my wife to claim again. It would make a considerable rise in our standard of living.

She’s just following orders, a bit like the guards at Auschwitz.

Child workers or child care workers?

It sounds pretty scummy whatever one it is.

baggins,
@baggins@beehaw.org avatar

Exactly. God’s chosen people often turn out to be just as shitty as the ‘bad’ guys.

They all use religion as an excuse for their shitty behaviour. I still don’t understand because it’s the same God.

baggins,
@baggins@beehaw.org avatar

I don’t buy it at all. I think religion is a cancer that the human race needs to eradicate as soon as possible.

The fact that they call themselves God’s chosen people should ensure they have standards far and above everyone else.

They are just as shitty as the ‘bad guys’.

Not soon enough!

Probably later this year, this should give you an idea of what happens.
