The HP instructions didn’t say that if you connected the cable between the printer and the PC before you had installed the drivers, the printer would not mount as a device. In fact, it would never connect to that PC ever again. Apparently, it ruined the registry until you reformatted and reinstalled the OS.
How do they manage to fuck something up so royally? They clearly knew it was a problem, as they outlined it in their manual. But there’s no way it was cheaper to deal with all the angry support calls and lost customer confidence than to just add some code to the driver installer that fixes the registry settings…
If this happened to me, I wouldn’t reinstall my operating system, I would tell their support technician to fuck off and go buy a printer from a different company.
Critics didn’t necessarily go to film school, but they see everything under the sun, so when a movie doesn’t do anything particularly new or is highly derivative without adding its own twist, it bores them. The person who goes to 3-5 movies a year doesn’t care, to them something derivative of 10 movies they haven’t seen is still new and fresh. This is in addition to the technical competency component you mentioned.
I watch a ton of movies so my tastes are more likely to align with those of a professional critic.
i don’t think many ISPs even offer encrypted DNS, i’m talking about using a third party dns. you can set up a standard dns endpoint that uses DoH upstream to the server of your choice. cloudflared makes this really easy if you are happy using their dns, and you can even have it sit upstream of something like pihole, giving your whole home network dns tracking protection and as blocking without the overhead of a VPN.
you could forgive the obnoxiously stupid packaging and marketing if the device inside that box was still as good as an iPod, but we all know a microsoft i-pod in 2005 would have been a clunky piece of crap. they didn’t figure out the zune until after the iPhone launched and it still wasn’t as polished as iPods from years earlier
